Not saying it should happen but you can match Murray's money without JV a couple different ways.

Herb & Dyson. Herb, Naji, Zeller. Nance, Dyson, Zeller

If you do send JV out for Murray, you can probably bring in someone like Drummond. You'll have to get offense from other areas, but he is a lob threat and is a better rebounder and rim protector than JV.

Murray could be that Aaron Gordon piece for us that he was for Denver.

But you have to keep the core of Ingram and zion together to do so.

If the Pelicans were willing to pay the tax, they would only need to take back 11.5 million to get the deal done. There are plenty of ways to get there. Also, Jonas and Dyson would be enough outgoing salary to get Murray and Onyeka.

I don't really see any realistic path to adding both of those dudes if Herb isn't going back.

I don't mean financially, I mean for ATL to play ball and agree to a deal.

I'm just talking financially. But I do think Atlanta values 1st round picks more than anything right now, and we still have way more than we will ever use.

I heard the market might work in our favor and we may not have to include a significant player other than Dyson especially with our draft capital. It’s probably why Griffin is getting involved- Murray could be had for a bargain.

If we do this, we will regret it.

I think to me pels would have to get Onyeka if they trade for Murray just to offset somewhat the positive impact JV brings to the team. Drummond isn’t good enough.

Because Murray is an a-hole and Jordan is a knucklehead?

It would not because Okongwu has a poison pill contract. We would have to add 8 million more in salary.

Jonas and Herb would work for both, or Jonas and Larry, but other than those two combinations it would be hard to make salaries work unless we start talking about adding BI to the deal.

Jonas, Dyson, Zeller, and Naji work. Route Naji to a 3rd team for 2nds to send to Atl

Also puts us way into the tax which we’ve already shown we will not pay this year by using our last couple 2nds to dump Kira. That’s why the only two options i put would work because we are not paying the tax and any other combo ensures that we have to.

I agree. They arent going into the tax this year no matter what. Otherwise, you would have kept Kira's expiring 5.7m for this exact reason.

I don't see how a trade for murray makes sense without CJ or BI going out.

If you trade herb, your defense will suffer and CJ + Murray is a small backcourt.

If you trade JV you have no center unless you get Okongwu back but then you have to trade herb to make money work

Oh I realize that, I thought we were all day dreaming that we would be willing to pay the tax.

There’s no way we get anyone other than filler in a Murray trade.

Does anyone see Murray being a "griff" guy?

Nah, he seems like the complete opposite of a griff guy.

I think this is just people looking around the league and seeing the pels having a lot of assets so identifying them as a sleeper

This seems like a situation in which Atlanta is using the Pels to try to get better offers .

Not to say Pels haven’t shown interest but there is no reason for a Pels leak . This would be coming from Atlanta .

Did anyone else notice that Chris Haynes says New Orlean …he doesn’t pronounce the S . Can’t say I’ve ever heard that .
