I don't have an issue with this. They are far from the first team to circumvent the salary cap. They just happened to get caught. And in retrospect,. overpaying Kawhi is hilarious. It would be like if we were funelling extra money to Zion to almost never play and eat funnel cakes.

The "everybody does it so its no big deal" is such a ridiculous take - for any subject. Lots of people rape and murder every year. Why prosecute them?

The Clippers gained a competitive advantage by breaking the rules. They should be punished.

Hope there wasn't a lock-in period on that stock, because then Kawhi got scammed on top of the original scam.

Heard on the radio that Balmer is claiming ignorance and that he didn’t know it was a scam.

Depends where Clippers’ spending already was.

The rates start at $1.50 per dollar above the line from $0 to $5m, go up to $3.25 per dollar for the $15-20m range, and go up $0.50 per dollar for each $5m past that.

Assuming no tax before this, it starts at around $85 million.

If they were already in the tax, which they assuredly were, it goes even higher and likely throws them into repeater tax as well.

He will get fined that is pretty much it. You really think the NBA is going to death sentence their largest TV market?

Did the NCAA give a tough penalty to the Michigan Football Program? Money and TV market talk!

Clip Show is a secondary team in a major market.

I could see them taking a hit much like I could see them doing the same to the Nets if they fricked up, though not the Lakers or Knicks in those same markets.

Yeah, they almost have to fine them at least the amount of tax they avoided. That and a 1st is probably where it lands.

Comparing overpaying Kawhi to rape and murder is wild

What the hell is wrong with you?

There is nothing we can do about that until the team is sold and moved. We are the smallest of the small, and that’s not a good place to be with a cheap incompetent owner.

So, he chose a controversial example to illustrate how asinine your point was. It doesn't make your point any less asinine.

Losing multiple first round draft picks if caught, like the T'Wolves.

Not anymore they changed it, they most they will lose is a one pick and the fine against the cap they will incur at most is a 1/3 of what the T'Wolves got.

They may make Ballmer sell the team if they determine the Clippers are guilty.

They made Sterling and other owners sell due to being embarrassments to the league. This guy apparently got caught circumventing the cap and is pleading stupidity as a defense.

Oh BTW, the Kawhi money is up to $48 million now and the Ballmer pledge to the organization was $50m. And Uncle Dennis was apparently calling this group demanding Kawhi’s money once they started having financial issues.

Sterling was fired because he was a racist.

Balmer won’t be removed. If you think he is the only team with cap errors. Happens quite often in NFL
