Guys like Lebron, KD, Kyrie and Harden have taken over franchises the past 6-7 years. Has it really worked? Other than the Covid year has it really worked? At the same time guys like Giannis and Steph and Tatum have just gone out and played.
Boom. there it is. But let's just go and waste our top younger assets for primadonnas. I love KD but he's on the downslope of his career.
He seems like he wants to be a solid role player for a contender going forward. I respect him a lot in knowing that after those two playoff losses two years in a row. He knows what he needs to be on a team to get back to the championship once more before the end of his career.
That being said, the last thing we need to do is offload assets to get that kind of vet. we can wait to get him here after someone offloads assets to get him outta brooklyn.

Title winner is based on injury luck more than anything
GSW - healthiest contending team
Last year - MIL - healthiest contending team. They were going home in rd 2 if not for the injuries to BKN.
More years than not you can say the best team didn’t win, but the team who didn’t have injury late in the postseason.

frick. No.
First this article is from New York.
Second we already said Brandon ain't going nowhere, and we sure aren't trading our young core (the good ones anyway).
Third no thanks to a 34 year old diva with an injury history (go look at how many games he's missed, especially the last 3 years).
Fourth no thanks to blowing picks AND good players for an aging 34 year old diva with an injury history.

I'm going to take a break from this site for a couple of weeks. Two things seem obvious to me, and they don't to most here, so I probably need to clear my head or something.
1) Brandon Ingram is the leader of our team and the heart of the new "family" atmosphere that David Griffin and Willie Green have built here. If we were to trade BI for KD, it would destroy everything that was built last season. It would utterly destroy everything that David Griffin has ever said about building for the long term, for sustainable success.
It would also be trading a still-improving all-star just entering his prime for a 34-year-old guy who's already past his. And while it would make us contenders this season, it would not make us title favorites or even close to it.
Which is why we should believe David Griffin when he ruled out trading BI, and it's why we should believe Pelicans beat writers when they say they we have ruled out BI in any deal for Durant. It's not going to happen, because it would be profoundly stupid. And discussing it is stupid -- I can't believe that I am actually typing this, because this board is usually smarter than this.
2) Kevin Durant is still a top-five player in the NBA. As recently as the Olympics a year ago, he was still almost universally acknowledged as the best player in the world. Maybe you could argue that Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, and Curry are now better. You'd be wrong about some of them, but I don't even think that there are decent arguments for anyone else.
If we could add Kevin Durant to Zion and Bi, we'd arguably have the best top-3 in the league. We'd either be title favorites or close to it for the next three seasons at least. Trading for Durant (and, again, it would be either Jonas or CJ + Dyson + either Trey or Herb + salary such as Graham/Temple/Jaxson/Kira + picks) would still leave us with plenty of excellent role players.
I see so many wrong comments about KD being a diva, a head case, locker-room poison, etc. -- and all that is crap. He's 34, and this is the first time he's ever requested a trade. He was a great team leader for Team USA in the Olympics. As far as I know, he was a great leader for the Thunder in taking them to the 2012 Finals. The fact that he didn't like being bossed around by Draymond Green at Golden State does not mean that Durant is a diva -- it means that it was a bad fit to insert a more talented player into a locker room that already had a defined leadership structure, and Draymond didn't adapt.
Our locker room is defined by Willie Green. That's a bit unusual in today's NBA, where most locker rooms are defined and controlled by a star player. But's it's Willie Green's "love and family" attitude that has become the beating heart of our locker room, and it's silly to think that Kevin Durant would come in here and change that in some way. Durant knows Green well and respects him from their time together at Golden State.
If Durant were willing to come to New Orleans, making a trade for him such as the one I posited above would be a no-brainer.
Again, something is either very wrong with me or with the bulk of this board. As I said in the initial KD thread, I think that our fanbase suffers from an inferiority syndrome. When some of y'all say "I don't want a great player to come here" and "I don't really want to contend for a title" and "I'd rather lose" ... I just wonder what it really means to be a fan.
I'm out for a while.

The secret is out. He could never lead a team or playmaker like BI.

enjoy the break

yep. Bird McHale celtics crushed magic worthy lakers game1. McHale hurts ankle.
lakers sweep 4 close ones two in OT.
the first curry championship. Kyrie dominated curry. Kyrie down. gsw wins.

If Kyrie and Love are healthy, they win that series in 5. Hell ‘17 Cavs were unbelievably offensively as well. If Durant never showed up, Cavs probably win 3 straight.

some did. they are so offended by the guys politics.
or they see a guy who is me me my money me me.
the posters are fans.
they are not a real gm who must eat it. they are not RINO GM.
or like me they so enjoy a player they don't want him to leave. Jrue.
there was a good TD post about this recently.
the emotional outweighs the mental for fans.
I get it because I started my fan time when free agency did not exist so your team became known to you. a connection.
the phila phillies I knew when I was 8 and they got smacked around world series by whitey ford and the rest of Bronx bombers was the same when I was 14. we don't get that now.
the Boston Celtics were the same guys. Russell cousy. good luck.
having a shot at Durant might be the only way new orleans gets a nba championship. and guys posted they would rather EARN IT. develop hayes. develop kira. I would toss them on the poopoo platter for a deep run.

New Orleans mortgaging their bright future…with two top 20 players under 25 for a might be?
Ingram and Zion can be top 10 players at ages 27 & 30
And plenty of young players in the draft to reload the bench unit.
That’s a contending team.
Celtic Dog, it’s the same reason the Celtics don’t trade Brown for Durant.

I need to see Durant at express some real enthusiasm about coming to New Orleans before I believe he’d really commit to us for the next three years. As much as I want championships here, I think the goal needs to be sustained success. We are still a small market. If we make this trade and don’t end up with rings, feels like it could set us back for the next decade.

quote:the exact same thing GOP was doing, and it’s childish. There is no trade for Durant without Ingram and that’s that. If you oppose trading Ingram for Durant than that means you made a choice and you roll with it. Kevin Durants pussy arse does not guarantee a ring, any more than keeping what we have guarantees we won’t
You make it sound like some would not want to give up Hayes and Lewis for Durant. That is ridiculous.

KD is the anti culture we have built
Correct. The only pros of getting KD are potentially more air time on national networks and potentially a boost in ticket sales. Continuing to build a winning team like the Pels have been doing and Zion being healthy will accomplish both of those things. So there really isn’t anything to gain by acquiring KD. I hope someone else is stupid enough to outbid the Pels before we suffer another self-inflicted screwup.
