Atlanta is not taking Love's albatross no matter what experience. They aren't even playing Lin more than about 15 minutes a night. They might take on some vets for leadership but not at Love's contract length.

If they're gonna eat that contract they need at least 1 1st. AT LEAST

Payton/Frazier
Jrue/Bazemore
Beal/Bembry/Miller
Niko/Vet min/Diallo
AD/Okafor

Is this lineup good enough to attract some ring chasers? It's better than anything we've put together with AD and has the potential to drum up some fan support (pipe dream I know). Not to state the obvious but AD is one of the only players in the league, maybe in history, worth mortgaging the future to sell on staying. I'm excited these talks are even happening, will be full on renew mode if it's pulled off.

Why the frick are we giving up Frank Jackson and our 2nd to Memphis just because they are giving up a first for Parsons?

If we need to give up a first for Hill then they need to offload two firsts.

Swap Jackson with Diallo and I'd be more inclined.

I like this version better

LINK

Basically, you take on Batum instead of Parsons. Charlotte sends their 1st to Washington and we send ours. Washington tanks and gets below the tax. Have 3 picks in next years draft. Possibly something like 3, 12, and 16. Charlotte also sends them a future 2nd. Hornets get better on paper this year and also free up money to pay Kemba.

Its the dream scenario. Keep Niko, send out Randle. Keep Frank, and also all future picks.

Link not loading for some. Trade was:

Wash: Moore, Wes, D. Bacon, Diallo, Pels 2019 1st, Char 2019 1st, future Charlotte 2nd

Char: Randle, Miller, Solo, Clark, fake Wash 2nd (to touch)

Pels: Batum, Beal, J Green

I hear you on Jackson.

He’s on a good little stretch of play...the GLeague time has clearly helped him...and he’d of course have to have this continue, but if he does, having Frank as a back up guard young and cheap. Give me that over Parsons-who again is probably washed, and hasn’t played 70 games in a season since 13-14 (and hasn’t played 60 since 15-16)...where is the actual value vs the theoretical value?

Frank is getting better...Parsons is theoretically a great fit. Frank is actually healthy enough to play. Parsons says he is, been cleared for 5 on 5, but there is a difference between games and practice. Refusing a GLeague assignment...Parsons has always had a prima-donna attitude. Plenty of guys with better careers hit the Gleague.

I don’t care for him & given our medical staffs reputation in the league, I wouldn’t put it above Wallace to try to pull a fast one on us. Even with a that, I don’t see Parsons passing a physical.

I'd prefer Sato, but we can't take back that extra salary and Charlotte doesn't have any minimum guys that I think can help. Hence, Jeff Green. Frank, Jrue, Payton, and Beal can hold down all the guard minutes. I would need Green to play some 3/4 and Jah gets all the minutes at 5.

Would have like 4 open roster spots to bring guys in on 10 days and hope one sticks. And/or hit the buyout market aggressively

In this hypothetical, who do you sign afterwards with the open roster spots?

Edit: half a second too late to your response

Pels financial perspective is interesting here.

they receive $49M and send $37M
which means they go into the tax with 3 roster spots empty

and not a ton of expiring left...

so not in a million years.

Time for Gayle to put her money where her mouth is. She said in the most recent interview that she is willing to pay for the big time players. If she means that, she needs to put up here if the other teams say yes

Holy crap that's a nice team:

Holiday/Payton
Beal/Jackson/Clark
Batum/Green/Williams
Mirotic/
Davis/Okafor

Just need to add a back up 4 using a 10 day or buy out market and that team is top 4 in the West.
Multiple ball handlers.
Love it.

I'm all on board the Beal train, but man this trade idea made me balk quite a bit.

ETA: The OP trade. Not yours crewz.

Why?
If Dell pulls that trade off I will never complain about his Hill, Asik and Bayless frick ups.

ETA.

Just saw your comments.

I would think they start Payton-Jrue-Beal against most teams. Batum or Green gets all the 4 minutes that AD doesn't play. Sure, get one for depth but I think your rotation is the clear top 6 guys, Green, Frank, and Jahlil.

For guys I am taking a flyer on, I look for a good defensive rebounding big and can always use one more shooter

AND giving up value on top of that.

I agree, Solo for Parsons saves them $13 million next year, they should have to give up a 1st for that.

quote:

Sounds exactly like a trade a poster on a message board posted as their idea. I cannot see the Pelicans even considering taking on Parsons' contract

At first glance yes, but it's way more subtle than a trade machinist post. Taking on Parsons means the Pels don't give up 2 1sts which means they would be free to trade their 2020 1st as early as this summer. That's something they couldn't do if they gave up 2 1sts directly to Washington. Without trading cap space for a 1st we're looking at something like:

Randle/Moore/Johnson/2019 and 2021 1sts for Beal and still have Solo but no asset to flip him with

Taking on Parsons for a 1st lets you package him with the 2020 1st this summer for something like the Bazemore/Bembry proposal I posted on the 1st page. So for roughly the same price you get Beal and effectively turn Solo into Bazemore/Bembry.

On top of all that you've made the 2 1sts you give up 2019 and 2020 rather than 1 being the 2021. If it all goes to hell the 2021 is probably a tank year pick which you've now managed to hold onto by swapping Solo for Parsons for half a year.

All in all though there are multiple options here for Dell.
I couldn't say that a month ago.

Not to further inflate him, but that is exactly what Crewz has been preaching for a while now. Hold your cards and things will open up.
