Why are these intriguing? They’re still second round picks lol

Washington just traded Porter and Morris, and Wall is out all next year and may never be the same again. These should be fairly high picks, and that 2021 draft is the double draft which by default should be deep. In a time of asset accumulation, this doesn’t hurt.

Not sure what people were expecting, we dumped Asik and got Niko on a cheap contract for a late first. We weren't getting a 1st and expiring for him now with half a season left.

4 decent seconds and a flyer on Stanley Johnson is a decent return.

I'm not sure what their logic is, but as I see it Washington is on the decline and 2020-21 is when high school players will likely be able to enter the draft again so the drafts should be a lot deeper.

With Beal alone in the east, I don’t think I’ll be at the top of the round. Still better than nothing.

keep in mind that the 2019 draft is not considered to be very deep

Nice deal for the Pelicans to recoup value after giving a first for Mirotic last year (Chicago used it on Chandler Hutchison). New Orleans wanted a first back for Mirotic, but early seconds in 2020 and 2021 could end up more valuable than a late first in 2019—this draft stinks.

The Wiz could be truly terrible with the Wall achilles issue, especially if they trade Beal in the next year. Those could be the first pick of the second round.

We got for Niko what we were told we would if we traded him: a fringe prospect and second rounders. Getting 4 of them isn't bad.

Curious to see what happens to Randle now.

Sources: Pelicans are receiving Denver's 2019 second rounder, Washington's 2020 and 2021 second rounder and Milwaukee's 2020 second rounder, along with Jason Smith and Stanley Johnson, for Nikola Mirotic.

Early 2nds are often more coveted than late 1sts.

There is the same level of talent available, but the contracts aren't guaranteed and are way less.

It also helps the Bucks knock off the Celtics and keep them from the Finals.

Will star high school players be allowed to be drafted or is this just rumors and wishful thinking?

Yay! We turned last years 1st round pick into 4 bottom of the second round picks!!!!

Honestly, you almost have to separate deals before and after AD's trade demand. If AD doesn't make this play, we don't trade Niko and he still makes a lot of sense here. Post-AD, we can use 4 future picks and do right by Niko. This actually looks like a decent play, in my opinion.

As for the picks, very high 2nds > very low 1sts. This is the team loading up on assets. I feel like this is the first time this franchise has looked more than 12 months ahead and it's kind of exciting. Crewz did say they had some sort of epiphany.

I hope they’re good seconds and in Future years. The players are absolutely useless.

I mean, they have the 8th worst record now. And Beal (who has a history of stress reactions), has played virtually all year. Now take off Wall, Porter and Morris, it’s going to be tough sledding for them.

I'm curious if the Pelicans had a choice of the MIL 2019 1st or the seconds.

I'd rather the 2nds

30th pick won't do much good tbh in this draft

The picks don’t really move the needle. I think this is a move that says, we take what we can get for an expiring contract and we are ready to rank this season.

It’s an asset and better than nothing. Maybe we can package them for a late 1st down the road.

Oooooor, send them to even out a trade with Boston or NYK later on.
