That's not a good look at all and worries me.

Pels can be a really good team next year, but that won't happen unless Boogie buys in.
It doesn't seem like he is.

He will if we make 8 seed. Wonder what this team could do then.

The Pels need to be all-in on the twin towers. They are two of the best bigs in the league. It's time for this shitstorm a franchise to get a coach that compliments his players, not the other way around.

Fire Gentry. Hire Malone/Hollins or whoever and grind out wins.

He's been the best player on his team his entire life and now not only is he not the best player, but they have him in a glorified 6th man role. Honestly he could probably outscore AD in a 6th man role going against 2nd units, but would he buy into that? I'm sure being on the bench in crunch time is not sitting well with him and honestly it shouldn't.

If Gentry were trying to break Cousins rather than save his job I could get behind it, but this seems like one more piece of evidence to say Gentry isn't the coach for this team if they keep Cousins.

Gentry strikes me as that guy at work who always points at someone else..

"What you want me to do, Dell? Demarcus won't hustle!"

"Yeah D-Mc, and then Dell was all like.. blah blah blah need to try harder.. he's a jerk"

I was at the game sitting maybe 20 feet from them. At one point Boogie was screaming at Frazier during a timeout, with Frazier not backing down. AD very obviously had enough of Boogie doing so and pushed him away. Boogie also stormed into locker after he was subbed out later. While Dante was waiting to check in for him, Boogie was telling him and coach not to.
What were they screaming about?

No opponent name no day no nothing just a random story to pile on about boogie. Typical shite I need receipts. And I'm pretty sure this would have been covered somewhere if it actually happened.

Why would Kumar make that up?

ETA: if you were following the thread you would know they were referring to the T'Wolves game.

Okay I went back and read up on it. Whoever said 10 games into next season we'll see what the real problem is.. or they may trade him in the offseason or something. I'm going to the game tonight and I'll watch out for anything outstanding.

What happened at the toast for or to the coast?

My thing is this, unless we find a way to get his mentality to change these instances will continue to happen. He's used to being the man, and being the true key for his team. That won't change in less than 30 games. He's not used to being benched and what not so he's acting out. If he can't mature into a true professional over this offseason and gel more, then off he goes but until then we have to keep an eye on all this stuff.

A blow up like this was bound to happen, and I think the Pels are handling it fine. You don't coddle Cousins if you want him to change. The main thing they need to do is make sure they treat Cousins fairly so he doesn't dig in his heels and I do question if they are giving integrating Cousins their full effort considering Gentry's job is on the line and this team plays playoff caliber basketball when it goes small.

People keep saying to coach to the talent. What about the way Davis/Cousins play makes anyone think they want to Grit 'n Grind?

And I tweeted about it the second it happened

If what is being said is true, Gentry, AD, and Jrue need to step in, get on his arse, and make sure he knows that he could be apart of something special if he doesn't screw up. Its just as important for DMC as it is for us because Cousins probably won't get another opportunity like this. Celtics won't take him they have their eyes on Butler/Hayward/Paul George (and will max Isaiah soon), the Wizards won't have any money after they max Otto, the Mavs don't have our upside, the Lakers are rebuilding, and the Knicks are well, the Knicks. This team can be very good and even better with DeMarcus but DMC needs to buy in to the process. I think if we continue to see an upward trend in the offense, Gentry should stay.

If we play a run and gun style, then one or more things need to happen. Boogie either needs to 1) drop some weight and get in shape to keep up with the pace 2) hang on the defensive side of the floor and be a one-man rebounding machine that helps get the Pels on the break (again he needs to buy into this) or 3) run the second unit, they slow the pace down, and he is the focal piece.

Then in the summer go after Tony Allen and Gerald Green. Two high energy players that are realistic gets that fit what we are trying to do (I think much of Jordan Crawford's impact has a lot to do with his high energy). Tony Allen could be had with a MLE (hopefully) and you get an All-NBA defensive player on the perimeter next to Jrue (which is badly needed), slashing, ball handling, and high energy. With Gerald Green, you get high energy, above average shooting, and solid defense for a little more than the minimum coming off the bench. You could also make a case for Joe Ingles but I think he'll command a larger salary than Green.

Do all the above or come up with another plan and get him behind it bc right now DMC's game does not fit with a fast paced offense and it will only work if both Boogie and the Pels meet halfway-ish. It would be such a shame to not be able to see AD and Boogie grow together. It's an unprecedented pairing that hasn't been matched in a long time. But if he's not behind it, fights with players, pouts, etc, get rid of him. And go after another max player. The problem with that is that a core of AD/Cousins/Jrue or just AD/Cousins is WAY more attractive to free agents than a core of AD/Jrue

Not a bad idea. I hope solo keeps the progression. If he plays aggressive like he's been playing, he's set. When he sitting back, watching, he's playing terrible ball.

And like Tiger said, if you integrate him properly, these things will get sorted out. Why trade for a star center and treat him like the foreign centers you hate to play? I understand you like small ball but come on now.

Since January 27th, Solo has scored more than 10 points in 7 games.

The Pelicans are 7-0 in those games. He needs to continue to play with some fire.

Exactly, there is a line between integrating him into the offense and changing his game entirely. You traded for a brute center almost ensuring a slower paced offense and hopefully there was foresight on this transaction. However I dont think a fast paced offense and Boogie are mutually exclusive. If both buy in, they can find a happy median that integrates Boogie into Gentry's offense while allowing DMC to be the player he's always been

I'll add though that if we split with Cousins (hopefully not), that open us up to go after Robert Covington ($14-16 mil), Tony Allen ($8-10 mil), and maybe Taj Gibson ($10-12 mil) in the low post.

In that offense, Covington and Allen could play either SG or SF and you could put Solo more at the 4. That would be more of your Gentry style offense
