Yeah that was my point. Don't think that would happen though

It won't. Dallas isn't a contender and he's still around. He's got his ring and he only has one or two seasons left, so he's going to try to maximize his earnings.

Didn't Marion say he'd retire or not show up if he doesn't get traded to a contender?

Well in our case he would not show up. He would have opted in by then.

Either we workout a buyout or he retires.

Marion is old but is still a legit 3. It would not be terrible for us.

Anyway, I hate this idea as its us giving up on FA before it even begins. For a old, overpaid 3 stopgap.

I mean this free agent class kinda sucks and if Dell doesn't like his options, then this is the way to go

The Mavs wouldn't be contenders with him eating cap space anyway so I can't see him having a contender or bust mentality. He'd opt out if that's how he felt, which he still could do. This year's Pels should be better than last year's Mavs so I think Monty and Dell can sell him on coming if they need to.

Also who is "Big Nog"?

We're saving room for LeBron.

I detailed the stats a bit in the other thread, but last season Marion was still pretty effective. Think of him like and older, better version of Aminu.

Ahh. That makes sense, scratches the big itch and the international itch.

Drive is this just an idea of yours or based on anything you know?

I think he's putting another "prediction" out there and for his own credibility this better come true. He gave himself wiggle room on the Gordon Trade with 76.6 odds, and I think part of that was based on drafting a SG which looked likely back then before we dropped to 6. But the wiggle room won't really matter IMO and that prediction will probably fail.

What a crap year. No real FA worth spending the money on that makes it worth not taking this deal and its a weak draft that doesn't make taking an extra pick a no brainer.

How so? I'm not trying to give you any crap driveman because we do appreciate the inside info, but with the Gordon trade and this thread you were asked if it was inside info and we never got a direct response. Even here while I think you're implying this is your own personal gut feeling, you aren't being clear.

I like this idea. Really don't think dallas is looking to go young. Sad that not many players want to team up with one of the goat PFs in dirk.

I'd like to go with Len at 6 and Saric (maybe shBazz) at 13 ideally.

GV/Rivers/CJ watson
Gordon/Rivers/cj watson
Saric or shabazz/ryno/marion
AD/ryno/smith
Len/Lopez/AD

Could trade as necessary. I don't really see marion coming for 1 year and learning the system to play a few minutes. Just have a rashard situation

I'd also love to grab MCW at 13
