and also If trey is our best player, and we're onlye 26 games... maybe IDK just maybe he's not the piece.
But you don't get better trading away your best players for picks in the 2nd half of the lottery. You upgrade your weaker players through trades, free agency and drafts (not panic draft trades).

What? Huge overpay. No way in hell I would give all that up for Kuminga Okongwu, #8 and Bucks pick.

I’m viewing it as Herb and Missi for Kuminga and a 1st which is fair, maybe slightly tilted in Pels favor, and Trey for Okongwu and #8 which is fair. Or you can view it the other way and say Trey for Kuminga and the 2 1sts, and Herb/Missi for Okongwu which would be slightly in Pels favor there also.

I think everyone will hear Okongwu’s name and not remember how great of a season he had last year while becoming one of the best 3 point shooting big men in the league.

Trading Trey Murphy for your own pick back that you gave up to get Derik Queen to draft Nate Ament

Neither is "fair". Maybe something like Herb for Okongwu and a 1st is fair IMO. Kuminga has almost no value as was proved by how little he went for at the deadline.

Instead of Joe looking to trade away young talent on a good contract, he should be out there looking for bargains like Atlanta just got. Wiggins for 2 2nds is a huge bargain and the type he should be hunting.

8th pick is second half of the lottery? I'm not a contract guy so I don't know the numbers. but I'm thinking Trey is owed a new contract pretty soon and I don't see him giving any kind of discount. I know all ya'll harp on money and over paying players. Trey will likely be over paid. We've already agreed he's best as a 3rd option. so yeah he's a fan favorite it'll suck to see him go. but building a winning team doesn't happen in one trade. lets get as much value out of him as we can, while we can.

Exactly what I expected is people severely undervaluing Okongwu, and overvaluing Herb.

Herb is not worth multiple 1sts, not in this new CBA age

Is Mac still around these days? He had Hawks info in the past, seems like he'd be all over this one

I’m just struggling with the idea of the Hawks being really good next year playing NAW, Dyson, CJ and Trey. That’s just so unfair for Pels fans.

And no, I don’t think the Hawks are trying to trade Okungwu.

I actually thought Kuminga was fantastic for the Hawks last year. Just hate his lack of shooting and overall fit with everything else we have.

8 and next years bucks pick is really really strong value though, especially if the true plan is to build around Fears and Queen.

Shouldn’t we be able to get something comparable to the hauls from the Bane and Bridges trades? I realize you can’t discount the dumb shite Dumars would do to get a guy he wants in the draft, but dude. Trey for a pick in the back half of the lottery and a player we can’t even use seems certifiably insane

don’t think he’s said anything about intel but he did say he thinks we should consider it if it’s 8, expirings, and the Milwaukee pick next year. Mentions Burries as the player he’d select at 8 for the trade to be considered

I thought Burries could play the 2?

Think Burries is more combo guard/SG. He doesn’t come off to me as a primary ball handler. Especially when he’s averaging 2.9 assists a game.

I guess he's kind of a Jrue-ish type of player maybe
