That DJ deal is more about dumping Poole. We're going to lose anyway...might as well be entertaining, recoup Ja's value and flip him at the deadline for something else...Fears should be the starting PG, regardless, by end of the season.

But DJ is probably better than Ja and playable with Fears.

If we keep Z then you keep DJ IMO. Either trade Herb/ Trey or DJ/ Zion. Obviously trading all 4 is ideal but DJ/ Z could double their value compared to right now. That's why you hold on those guys.

I wish we could flip Poole for Kessler some kind of way.

Kessler/ Missi is wonderful for the next 4+ years.

The problem with Kessler, while a very good rim protector and rebounder, is that he wants absurd money for a guy with no offensive game. You cannot pay a guy that kind of money that can't score, and the statistical analysis backs it up

If we weren't unloading our roster then I'd agree.

Trey/ Herb/ Poole/ Hawk/ Looney =$91mil

You can add Kessler along with another $60mil in assets and THEN have another $70+mil with DJ/ Zion the following year.

Money isn't the problem honestly. And Kessler avg almost 15ppg the few games he played this year with 10ppg last year. 10-15ppg with +10reb and elite rim protecting is plenty.

I've been trying to framework a deal where the Jazz get Stewart, Pistons get Poole, and we get Kessler but it would hard-cap us since it would have to be S&T and would probably require a fourth team somehow

Pass on Kessler. He is severely overestimating his value.

Yeah the Jazz have already offered him absurd money and he turned it down. You simply cannot pay a guy like that that percentage of cap

I'd like to have him just not at his price

They offered him 28mil a year. He wants 30-31mil.

The dude can average 10+ rebounds and 2+ blocks a game. We lack bigs, rebounding, and paint defense. He's "worth" 40mil in regards to how shite we are at what he does.

If we don't have to give up good assets then we really shouldn't blink at $30mil if its on the table.

Having him and Missi locked up now allows you to focus on shooting and uograding other positions.

If you can add him without giving up future 1sts, Herb, DJ, Trey, or Z then its worth it.

Either way we should 100% be trying to add a Kessler/ Myles Turner to the roster with Pooles salary.

Kessler at $30mil doesn't sound so bad when you realize we have $49mil wrapped into Poole/ Hawk/ Looney.

Yes, we could give Kessler $50mil per year right now, get rid of Poole/ Looney/ Hawk, and end up in a better position.
