Fair warning Mac isn’t the most trusted source but talking about a sign and trade for Claxton with Nance and Dyson.

Unless he’s elite, I don't understand wasting resources and a nice portion of your cap on Centers in todays NBA.

Mac is elite…he had his own board and everything.

Claxton isn't elite by any stretch, but he is a good fit for our roster. One of the better fits out there

I feel Clint Capella isn’t any different. Older and hes on expiring but could be had for cheaper and not stuck on giving him a long term deal.

I’d love Claxton the player but not the contract he’s about to receive. You almost have to go cheap at center unless you have a truly elite one and Claxton isn’t there yet on offense. Great D rim protector and athletic as hell
though.

Really depends on the salary that he would be getting.

More than we can afford considering we’re willing to give up Dyson and Nance just to sign him according to Mac.

Agreed. I like Claxton, but not at +20M. He's not a difference maker. This past season showed that

I can't imagine him getting 20 mil. I think he lands somewhere around Gafford's range.

Wouldn’t it be better just to get Capella and draft a young center behind him? I get going after Jarett Allen. Not understanding chasing Claxton.

I like his game and think he is a relatively good fit on the roster.

I would prefer a guy who can at least threated a 3pt shot and make more than half their FTs reliably tho

I’d take Claxton for Nance or Dyson. At least we can get some shot blocking but we would have to start Trey for spacing tho.

My guess is while Capela is a good shot blocker, he's not a versatile defender. He doesn't have the defensive range needed to anchor multiple defensive coverages on the fly. And most rookies won't be ready by year 2. So we'll be in the same exact position next season. If they think Claxton is a good option, they probably just need to get him in on multiple years.

Dog days of the off season if we're resorting to actually taking Mac seriously.

He's a little washed but I'd rather take a center at 21 and have capela for a year than trade Dyson for Claxton just to pay him 20yr

Yeah thats where I’m at. We’re trading Dyson for the ability to overpay Claxton. It sounds similar to us giving up a first to sign Devonte.

Capela is also a 20m expiring so if a center like Jarrett allen pops up on the market you have easy matching salary to go get that guy

Not at $20 million+ per season. Hard pass.
