Zion Williamson is experiencing soreness in his foot and his return has been delayed.

Williamson did not practice today. The soreness has persisted. No re-imaging has been scheduled at this time.

Williamson will be dialed back before ramping back up next week.

Zion did not practice today. He is dealing with lingering soreness in his right foot. Latest round of imaging revealed no structural issues, but his return has been pushed back.

Even less inclined to force any big moves mid season now. We’ll be buried by the time he comes back assuming we’re not too far gone as is

Premature to call it a "slight" delay when the reality is that it's indefinite delay until his foot feels okay. No one can say he'll be fine this week.

At this point it's 100% damage control. "Slight" is merely a best case scenario.

ETA: calling out the media phrasing that itself is likely coming from Pelicans

On a positive note, Jaden Ivey is looking really solid
At the rim: 74.1%
Mid range: 33.3%
Three ball: 43.3%

and would project in that 4-8 range we are looking to end up in assuming Zion continues to struggle getting back.

Yeah, this setback puts us in no climbing out territory. I've been one for the most positive MOFO's on this board, but time to make some trades for some underperformed young guys (like Bagley) and just run the fuxk our of them for the year to see what you have before giving extensions

Will Guillory:

quote:

To be clear:

1. This wasn’t Zion re-injuring the foot.

2. He experienced some soreness the morning after a workout. The team decided to slow down his ramp up process to manage the soreness.

3. There’s no plan as of now to get additional scans on the foot.

TBH this could simply mean the 17th as opposed to the 8th or 10th.

Might not be doom territory

If one workout has his foot hurting enough to shut him down again, then he's not going to play this season

I feel like I'm now on the opposite end of where I was pushing back against the excessive optimism haha, but to be clear to what has been reported, Zion has been practicing and going hard for weeks now.

It's not like this is his first highly physical activity, and this was only some slight discomfort and the team being overly cautious.

Not sure that should warrant calling it a season for Zion

We can get the #1 pick this year, and there are some impressive candidates.
