I will say, his transition passing is amazing. The issue is, in the half court he is an abysmal decision maker. Now that will work if we have a true PG who can run the half court (like CP3 is doing for phoenix right now).

Zo's shot has improved enough that he's a threat, but not a 7+ attempt a game type of guy. Maybe its the fact we don't have a true shooter outside of JJ, but that's part of building the team. Griffin/Langdon need to start finding more shooters who can do that.

8th seed will be a pipedream if they don't figure out the deep ball issue. The scouting report is out and it's going to get real ugly when they start playing the really good teams in the next couple of days. You cannot have Bledsoe and Ingram shooting good percentages while everyone else shoots under 30% from deep. It's just unheard of how bad they are this season when they weren't bad last year.

The Pelicans rely heavily on getting to the line to stay in games and those ftas will shrink when they play those really good teams that can also get to the line at a good rate. SVG has to find ways to get other players involved.

I don't hate Ball at all.

I just don't think he's good enough to get the money he is going want to get. I saw his contract as a ticking time bomb the moment the trade went down.

He'd be a fine player off the bench or as the 5th option on a really good team making 8-10 mill a year.

As the 3rd-ish option making 20+? No thank you.

We have to start thinking about the future lineup that is best around Zion and Ingram and I don't think Ball fits in that.

Barnes instead of Buddy and I'm in. Not a chance of it happening but i'd be happy. Less years, better player.

That's what I *thought* the theme was going to be this offseason. Shooting shooting shooting. It seems like you HAVE to surround a guy like Zion with a shitload of shooting, a la the SVG/Magic team with Dwight.

Instead they...went in a different direction that I don't quite understand currently. Still a lot of time to let it unfold.

Lonzo's transition passing is useless in SVG philosophical style of play. Zion isnt being asked to leak out as often and Lonzo is being asked to tone down his full court passes. Ball playing in a slow paced offense just doesn't work without an elite 3 level scoring PG who can play the P&R offense.

Maybe we should have drafted the vandy kid that could shoot lights out instead of Kira?

That kid is struggling mightily so I don't think that was the answer. At least for this season.

That's who I wanted. With Ball and Bledsoe the Kira pick didn't make a whole lot of sense unless you plan on moving one or both of those guys soon.

A capable shooter next to that trio would be a big deal

We need to talk more about his defense. He’s shutting down his matchups

Fred VanVleet: 1/4 FG
Kyle Lowry: 0/2 FG
Duncan Robinson: 1/3 FG
Tyler Herro: 1/3 FG, 1 TOV
Patty Mills: 1/4 FG, 1 TOV
Dejounte Murray: 3/4 FG, 3 TOV
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: 1/3 FG, 2 TOV

I think the clear answer was keeping George Hill while moving Bledsoe. SVG is clear on playing Lonzo as a featured big minute starter so having someone like Hill gives the team the much needed shooter as well as give NAW and Lewis minutes without worrying too much about minutes for Hill. But with Bledsoe, it complicates things.

Easier said than done, but I hope Kira can develop into someone like Brogdon
I think Fox is a better comp for his potential.

I'm done with Zo. I'll be honest, with the rumors of him wanting astronomical $ and his inability to grow (basketball IQ-wise because shooting takes time when your shot was THAT jacked up), you cannot invest 8 figures and make him into your core if the goal is playoffs+contending.
He doesn't really fit because we don't have a good enough primary ball handler, if we did I think he could be okay. But, I also don't think he's going to buy into that role, so yeah I would rather we trade him at the deadline this season.

I think they definitely want to send Monk out. He’s the odd man out right now. He hasn’t been great, but he’s still young and has shown flashes. I can’t imagine he has the value Malik Beasley did last year, and all they got was a Houston 1st for him, and they sent out the good young Hernangomez with him too.

I don’t know what Devonte Graham’s value is. Is he a straight up swap of Lonzo value? I would think Lonzo holds slightly more value, making Graham and Monk almost equal value for Lonzo.

Agreed, I don't think he really fits with Zion and Ingram because he doesn't have the ballhandling or decision making skills needed in the half court. If one of our two best players was an all star guard, I think he could fit here, but that's not the makeup of our team.

true, he plays fasts like fox. can attack the rim, can finish, and has a decent shot.

Do you want to pay Lonzo 20-25mill per year, for 4-5 years? Yes or no?

Bull shite to all of that b/c I am 100% positive those aren’t the stats for SGA.
Lonzo is a good defender.

This is really what it comes down to for me. I think he’s improved in some areas especially on the defensive end, but it doesn’t make sense to tie up that much money on a non-all star player when you’re not a top team.

Once you pay Lonzo, you're reallllly limiting yourself into how you construct the roster. The avenues of improvement really start to shrink IMO.

bunchie have you looked at some PG contracts? To act like that deal would be debilitating is funny. The whole point is that we do not need to decide right now. That's exactly what we are trying to figure out. We are 8 games in. We arent privy to what the plan is.
