This is not something we should be melting about
If we would have matched that offer THEN you should be melting
letting him walk would have been better. Basically, we took on 2 borderline NBA players with substantial salaries for a fricking second.

Griff got them to throw in a bag of that famous Chicago popcorn. Baw is playing 4D chess out there.

They aren’t borderline NBA players. They are decent backups and are making 15 mill between the two. And we don’t even know if we are keeping either or both b

Let me explain something basic to y'all, because lots of people don't get it.
When a player is a free agent, whether a UFA or a RFA, there is a bidding war. The team that agrees to pay the most usually gets the player.
At the time of signing, that player is then in no way an asset, because the truth is that the rest of the league believes that the player is overpaid. If they believed that the player was a good value for the money, then they would have offered him the money.
Overpaying a player just because he was on your team the year before is dumb. Our front office did not believe that Lonzo was worth $21 million per year to our team. Frankly, I agree.
We don't have unlimited money and are not going to be a tax team this season.
There are other players that we can spend that $21 million on. In fact, this board has been discussing many of them. The fact that we got something back for Lonzo is lagniappe.
That makes this a good deal. Good grief.

lol man i never bought into the "Zion leaving after rookie deal" but if this keep going like this---man I wouldn't blame him

Seems like a good serviceable PG. Has a career 4 to 1 assist to TO ratio. Only 29 years old so he has experience but not too old. Has good height at 6'7. Not gonna be a flashy player but will play hard and protect the ball with good fundamentals.
So, he's Greivis Vasquez.

no we took back 18mill in this trade---I think many would have been ok if we just ket him walk and not take back on that salary of bum NBA players

We got a pile of bullshite in return. The only asset we got was a fricking second round pick.
I have held off on hating Griffin, but this may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. This is just a shitty return.

My god this is so fricking dramatic. Sato and Temple are in no way borderline NBA players. Sato is a $10m expiring contract, relax

Sato actually has some value to a lot of teams in this league.

Time to get Chris Paul back home boys
Posted on 8/2/21 at 5:50 pm to Galactic Inquisitor
I’m going to be optimistic and wait until what Griffin is going to do.
He could had Markannen if he chose to but didn’t. Better than Graham. We have a ton of cap space now and that can help us out for next years FA.

Lol you can kiss him good bye unless Griff pulls something out of his arse
Which we have been waiting on for a while now

I think the concern I and a lot of the people upset with this move have is that no one wants to sign here unless they're going to be overpaid. I just get the feeling we will wind up paying similar money for someone who likely will be less productive than Lonzo. I'd love to be wrong and for us to sign a big FA with all that money but the realistic Pels fan in me feels that that isn't going to happen. Any step backwards will probably be the death blow for the Zion era.
Posted on 8/2/21 at 5:51 pm to Not Cooper
I figured we wouldn’t get him lol. Good for him.
Posted on 8/2/21 at 5:52 pm to Macintosh
Sato just dragged the Czech Republic into the Olympics, with him as the only NBA player on that team, beating out much better teams like Canada.

but we came out of this with no value whatsoever.
We got that 2nd. Griff just got a cool 2 million for one last draft. This one will help put money from his Ron Jeremy frick up back into old girls wallet. You just looking at this the wrong way. It’s just another trade to correct last years mistakes….
