Often the forgotten man on the team. Our 13th pick from 3 years ago. Had an ok rookie year and a bad start to his 2nd year before tearing his ACL. He's looked good this year when he gets some run which is few and far between.

What should the team do with him? He makes 5.7m next year which is a lot for a guy that never sees the floor.

I never loved the pick. He’s too small and plays out of control a lot. We are paying Temple $5M to sit on the bench. I don’t think you give up on him yet. He really hasn’t had a full offseason. I’d give him next year and then decide.

Who does he take minutes from next year? If healthy(hahahhaha) even Dyson is going to struggle to get minutes.

Almost certainly we will attempt to use his salary as filler/"young asset" as part of a larger deal, with multiple draft picks and other players

With zion's extension kicking in we're going to be pushing the luxury. I doubt they want to pay Kira 5.7m to sit on the bench when they can pay a minimum guy to do that and save some money

I don’t like our backup PG situation. We have Jose, Kira and Daniels but I still feel like we don’t have an adequate enough backup PG. Daniels isn’t ready, coaching staff doesn’t seem to like Kira, and Jose hasn’t been overall effective enough this year.

I def think Kira is getting traded. He’s not playing despite Jose being hurt.

IMO it’s criminal that with all the injuries and shooting woes of the Pels this season that Willie has had a 21yo lottery pick shooting over 40% from 3pt on the bench and couldn’t figure out how to give him any consistent minutes.

Yeah i felt like he could have given us a spark in all those games where our offense just went stagnant

He's just caught in a numbers game and the team has added multiple guys that play the same position since he was drafted. Realistically he's the 4th string PG. Even though he's shown improved off ball skill, it's hard to slot him in as anything else at his size. He needs to improve enough to pass Jose on the depth chart to get meaningful minutes.

Even then, I really hope Dyson takes a step next year and pushes both down the depth chart, meaning even if Kira somehow passed Jose, there still wouldn't be a ton of minutes available.

He struggles to use his speed as an asset in game. When he gets minutes that count, he is too turnover prone.

Jose may never regain form or not next year any way.
his injury just needs time.
no jumping.. therefore no practice shooting.
if he's still on the mend during the preseason games kira will get his minutes.

It's not unusual for a guy like him who isn't in the rotation to have some issues when throwing him into the fire. He's not particularly a turnover prone guy based on his career here or in college.

He needs minutes to develop or he'll just end up like Hayes. It'll be interesting what we end up doing with him. You're either going all in on Dyson or you put him on the back burner and wasting time on his development to put Kira in the rotation.

And if we re-sign Richardson, there's absolutely no room for these players to get minutes behind CJ, Herb/Murphy/Richardson.

Fair point, but I think he is a trade piece more than a long term option.

Hate that we used a 13th pick on him, but the injury really set back his timeline and accelerated minutes for the other young guys.

I want to bring back richardson but not at the cost of developing dyson. Developing him is crucial to our long term success

I'm a Kira fan and would love for him to get more time.

He has way too many DNP's. Dyson has an advantage on defense but I'm sorry it looks like Kira is more ready to play than Dyson is. Maybe Dyson has a higher ceiling but I'd prefer to use the guy that makes us better right now at least a little more than he currently is.

I know it was against bad competition but he looked like the best player on the court the last night during his minutes. I don't know why Willie didn't give that unit a full quarter or more last night instead of just 6 minutes or so. In blowout games he'll have the starting unit out there until 2 minutes left. Get them out to avoid injury and let other guys get run. It's kind of ridiculous that we picked a guy at 13 and just decide not to develop him.

He looked great in the final half of the 4th last night. I want to see him get consistent minutes. Just impossible to know what we have or feel confident in moving on, without him getting a real chance first.

How great would he have looked if he missed the two 3s? He had some good defensive moments, etc., but I hesitate to call anyone's performance in the last 5 minutes of trash time great.

Come on, he played 6 or 7 minutes against deep bench players for a tanking team. He has to earn his minutes and apparently has not done that. He just does not seem comfortable running the offense when he plays. He is still thinking way too much and taking too long to make decisions. I agree that he is probably a contract in a trade at this point.

Exactly what has he done to fail to earn minutes…leads the team in 3pt %, 5th in Pts per 36, 2nd in FT%, almost 2 STOCKS per 36 (tied with Dyson), over 2 to 1 assists to TOs.

I would feel differently if the Pels had stayed on their early season tear and Willie didn’t want to rock the boat, but the Pels were racked by injuries and went on some massive losing streaks where no one could throw it in the ocean from deep.***

Failing to give your 21 yo lottery pick that is leading your team in 3pt % significant minutes under those circumstances should be fireable on its own. Even if the player fails, the unwillingness to try it and see, which essentially guarantees a waste of a lottery pick is simply negligence.

Kira has shown significant improvement and flashes of why he was a lottery pick and Willie’s response has been to bury him on the bench.

***Now that the team is getting healthy and in a dogfight for a playoff spot it may be too late to try and see what the Pels have and that is 100% on Willie

Who's minutes should he be taking?

Dyson?

If you want to argue he should have been playing when we were still trotting out Graham, fine, but I'm not benching Dyson for him.
