Let’s say Love is healthy and ready to help...

From a Pels fan perspective, wouldn’t we want Cleveland Kevin, to start playing like Minnesota Love and maybe just maybe unexpectedly lead the Cavs out of the bottom 10, so we can have yet another quality draft asset?

Maybe that’s a bit unrealistic, but let’s say Kevin comes out of the gate strong and the Cavs start 10-10. You may be able to convince a less intellectual front office that the trend continues and our Cleve 1st now would have more trade value as a result if we cashed it in before Love’s body fell apart and Cleve ultimately tanks.

What you are suggesting is worse case scenario for a Pels fan, not the best. You are lighting fire to our cap space for a big that we don’t need and doesn’t fit our window. You are suggesting we flip assets for a negative asset and in that trade we also 100% guarantee that our Cleveland 1st becomes two seconds.

I don’t like it. Application denied.

This thread isn't well thought out. The Pels own the Cavs 1st round pick (top 10 protected). The only way the Cavs drop that far in the draft is for Love to have a good year in Cleveland. Why would the Pels trade for a player that could give them a 1st round pick next year? That's arse backwards.

Yep, this is a fringe move that makes sense, IMO.

No

We have 0 bad contracts right now

Not a single one

I want to keep it that way, flexibility and guys on good contracts that are positive assets.

I dont like it bc of his health concerns but if we did a trade for him, itd have to be something like Favors, and etwaunn for Love and a atleast a very lightly protected first. We are taking a very expensive contract off their hands for two expiring contracts and they have a couple extra firsts accumulated. So a first needs attached to even consider. Zion and Love would man the front court which in theory is an ideal pairing. I just wouldnt want to commit to that much to an aging forward with mulitiple recent injuries on a Large contract that could keep us from adding other young stars in the future that would make more sense with our current young core.

General rule of thumb, before you start a thread about the Pels trading for a player, look up their contract.

What would we do with him?

That’s not really realistic. Nothing’s gonna help the Cavs enough to land above bottom 10 especially with how many strong teams there are this year. They might be one of only a couple teams in tanking mode.

Why would the Pelicans want two 6'7" players to start at PF and C?

Well, my thinking is play him until he redeems his value. And once he is playing like Wolves Kevin Love then decide if he will help us get a chip.

Otherwise we flip him for the next disgruntled superstar and add whatever we need to to make it work. His salary is like a free superstar pass. He’s our CP3 we trade for the star we actually need (Westbrook).

Draftexpress: Kevin Love measured —6-9 ½ in shoes (6-7 ¾ without), with a 6-11 ¼ wingspan.

Contract doesn’t bother me because it seems like you need a big contract eventually to trade for the next disgruntled superstar anyway.

I don’t like the Kevin Love idea either, but he is listed at 6ft 10in. Let’s not move the goalposts on an argument that’s already easy enough to win.

God damn if that's not the shittiest reason I've ever seen to take on a terrible contract.

Don't instruct me you hack fukk. I posted his actual measurements, to hell with what he's listed at. He's a liability on defense. It would be stupid to pair Zion with an undersized C.

Kevin Love = $31 million
Moore + Miller + Favors = $32 million

You also wouldn't need to send out picks to make up for the bad contract if you traded those 3 to another team for a disgruntled max player.

Well people are exaggerating on how bad the contract is:

YEAR AGE BASE SALARY CAP HIT
2019-20 Contract details by year 31 $28,942,830 $28,942,830
2020-21 Contract details by year 32 $31,258,256 $31,258,256
2021-22 Contract details by year 33 $31,258,256 $31,258,256
2022-23 Contract details by year 34 $28,942,830 $28,942,830
2023 Free Agent Year 35
UFA

It drops to 28mil in 2022.

That gets you into the Horford, Dlo and Vucevic class of player in this free agency. What are you expecting these days for 30mil???

Favors might be a long term keeper though...
