No depth. An injury away from being a disaster.

Those picks won’t be available until 2024 and 2026 more than likely.

Cleveland owns The Bucks pick for next year which will likely be pushed to 2022. So we won’t get their pick until 2024 and 2026. Plus the swaps. Giannis signing a max this season won’t effect us. The picks should be nice by then. At least nicer than you may think

You think Giannis will be done in 4-6 years? The Bucks will be contending for the next decade with him..

Also, I love that we have heard for years that Holiday isn't a PG. But yet, he just got traded to a contender and is going to play PG. Isn't that convenient..

I think he’ll leave after his extension or during it. I still don’t have faith in them winning a final.

What do you mean heard? We've watched for years Jrue play his best ball next to players like Reke and Rondo as a SG.

Guys, we all know nola will never trot out a true and consistent championship threat.

Let it go.

It doesn’t bother as much when new orleans teams make another crap trade if you stop caring so much. We have no control over what these teams do. The players don’t appreciate all fans anymore. It’s silly, really.

Yeah he’s not a PG. making him do too much in controlling the offense had him fricking up more times than not. He won’t have to be the main ball handler tho

Look at the ages of all their key pieces. This trade basically removes all significant flexibility for the foreseeable future. They’ll be counting on a 30 year old Giannis to carry a bunch of 34-35 year olds. Pels just need for them to slip up one of those years to get a really nice pick.

Wow. I went to bed really early last night and am also just waking up to this.

This is just a stunning overpay that happened because Jrue was basically the only quality player available on a reasonable contract.

Griffin handled this situation masterfully. And I can't wait to see what he's going to do next, because we now have too many guards and are still in need of a center.

Finally, I will root for Jrue to get a ring this upcoming season. He's been so great, not only for the team, but also for the city of New Orleans, and I will miss him.

Meh Zion will be gone in five years.

Young rebuilds only work in desirable markets.

Hint: We aren’t one.

Yeah I just can’t get excited about future pick swaps with contending teams. I would love to set the team up in the future but unfortunately I don’t think the Pelicans have that luxury. Teams in the west are stacked and you have Zion and BI for now, but who knows how fast that will change. The nba doesn’t seem to be a 5-8 year plan type of league anymore lol

I think you should view the picks as capital to trade for a malcontent star when we feel we’re ready to contend

Not sure why people are melting. I think its a great deal. Look around the league on contending teams that were interested in Jrue Holiday. There aren’t that many good packages available.

We get an additional draft pick this year, and it will be much easier to send bledsoe and/or hill to contending teams to get back young talent with their contracts

Even if we keep them,

Bledsoe
Ball
BI
Zion
Favors

Ain’t a bad starting 5.

And you get an additonal quality bench player in Hill.

Right

The Pels aren’t going to make most of these selections.

Its not a melt. People are just calling out the BS we have been sold for months about this massive windfall we would be getting off this deal. No top 10 pick, no salary relief, no young emerging star.. We get a pick in the 20's, two somewhat useful vets that will be hard to flip and a couple of picks 4-6 years from now that nobody can guess where they will wind up.. Spin it however they like. I'm glad we got something. But its not anything to be proud about..

The deal isn't finished.

Bledsoe is a first team all defense guard, I can see Atlanta or Chicago wanting him.

Is there a surer sign on this board that we won this trade than marky mark hating it?

Holy shite. Just woke up to this. Man being old and going to bed at 9 sometimes has it’s privileges and I didn’t react on the first page.

3 first round picks and 2 pick swaps.

For Jrue Holiday.

Jesus.

Bledsoe and Hill are real solid players but as others have said they may be redirected elsewhere.

Picks in 2024 and 2026 would be legit. Pick swaps in 2025 and 2027 (is 27 allows under the Stepien rule?)? Giannis will have likely long asked for a trade by them.

The first page Bunchy melt would have been better than when the Saints are down 10 with 5 minutes to go in the 1st quarter.
