That, too, is a stupid take. Explain a way for use to have Zion and BI on this same roster that leaves us with cap space. You basically gut the roster to get one more player. You then have no way to upgrade beyond the MLE. As it stands, we have a solid roster, and several mid-sized contracts that can be paired with our arsenal of picks if the right player becomes available

Maybe we should have let Ingram or Zion walk! We’d win 35 games every year but at least we’ll have the all important flexibility so we can gain the approval of internet podcasters.

Everything I attributed to Hollinger was Duncan, and vice versa

So it’s Duncan more than Hollinger who slammed us?? If so maybe change the thread title.

Yeah, I didn't think that Hollinger was that negative towards us.

I think it has more to do with strapping ourselves to CJ than anything else. We are already seeing a little of that with people wondering if we are potentially better without him on the floor.

Again, I am not saying he’s right, because even with how poor CJ has played at times this year, it’s hard not to give him credit for the teams’ overall improvement. You can’t really quantify the influence CJ has had on the team. For those reasons, I can see how someone who is only looking at the raw numbers may think the CJ move wasn’t necessarily the best move to make at the time.

its not CJ per se its the 30MM
i can see why it would be questioned, but only in hidsight. they needed a leader, a shooter, a ballhandler, a facilitator. jose was an UDFA and DG is butt

Do I love the contract? No. Is it a terrible contract? Absolutely not
Yep

People think he's a guy who averaged 5.8ppg, but that's just on our team that is extremely deep.

He's 3 or 4 years removed from being a dude who gave a team 18 and 8 in more of a prominent role.

I see no reason he can't still go out and give someone 16 and 7. It's not a terribly efficient 16, but those types of numbers are not bad value at $12mil.

I think we should either use him as salary filler in a deal or just let his deal run out through next season then pay that partially guaranteed amount and let him become a FA.

CJ is responsible for Zion's extension. He's worth the money.

But yeah, we'll probably trade him before his deal is up.

I really don’t understand how the Pels could have a much better constructed roster.

The Pels have a handful of bench guys that can step up and score 15 or 20+ any night.

I would not be shocked for

Jose (4 15+ games, 1 20+ games)
Trey (10 15+ games, 4 20+ games)
Naji (4 15+ games, 1 20+ games)
Larry (5 15+ games, 2 20+ games)

To score 15-20+ any night they are promoted to the starting lineup or even with a bench outburst.

I swear to god I thought this was an old, bumped thread when I read this line

Not only that, we have a bunch of Swiss Army Knife defenders.

An awful lot of our guys are heavily switchable and can guard a lot of positions well. Makes for a lot of lineups where we can cover defensive limitations of 1-2 guys.

As far as their rankings goes, I think we were properly rated. Their top 10 are all organizations that have had a track record of being stable and practically successful a lot longer than the Pels. Outside if the 2nd half of last season, this is the first year where the entire concept of what the organization could be has come to fruition.

Side note: when factoring in their rankings for this list, they do not consider the success of the coach. It is pretty much a list built off the strength of the owner and front office.

Keep in mind, there were many rumors that Griff was on the hot seat and about to be fired.
