Joe could say the sky is blue and everyone would start crying because he didn’t specify the tint of blue

On the flip side, he could do what he did here and give the same canned response that every GM in every sport says when asked about lack of player movement, and battered fans that are still holding onto hope will stick up for him.

lol who cares. It’s August 10th, schedule not even out. We win games, great. We lose, great. Lottery pick time. Gayle not selling the team, neither is the team moving. It is what it is.

Where was this wisdom when we acquired Poole?

Poole was coming off a great year with the Wizards. Sometimes stuff don’t work out. Even in that trade we just saw Bey as a throw in and now we’re talking extension for him

We aquired Bey, who is better than both Poole/ CJ for what we need. But yeah lets base every trade on the worst asset and not the best, its the Pelicans fan way!

Shut up. Trying to decipher what this man is saying is crazy lol. If there wasn't any trades there wasn't any trades worth taking

Legitimately don't think I've ever been less excited for a season, in any sport

I believe this what the start of a rebuild looks like nowadays. We started last offseason and it takes 4-5 seasons for a complete turnaround. We are going to be bad to mediocre while we put everything in place. Teams just can't strip down to nothing anymore. You have to have assets to generate more assets. Plus you have to hit the salary floor, so you must have a few big deals.

I actually think we are in a pretty good spot right now. We have a couple of good young pieces. We have an attractive player in high demand. Then we have a bunch of middling players that could have some good returns. I dont see any horrible contracts right now.

It will be interesting to see what deals we make mid-season. We need to either extend or trade Bey now, while his value is high. I'm also curious what happens with Murray. If he has a good year there is a strong chance he opts out for a longer term deal elsewhere. It'd be tough giving up 30M+. But someone might give him a 3Y/60M type deal, if he shows that he is fully recovered..

Ideally you keep Bey/ Trey and get a war chest with Zion/ Murray/ Herb.

Can't forget the '27 swap which could be a very very good pick. You can start with Fears/ Queen/ Missi/ '27 pick and accumulate another 8+ 1sts or assets from Zion/ Murray/ Trey/ Herb/ Bey.

If you can land a Top 5-10 pick with atleast one of those packages then we have a full starting lineup.

I think that was the hesitation with Trey, they wanted 3 1sts or a very high draft pick. If we can get a Top 10 pick with MIL and then get another Top 5-10 pick next year with Trey/ Z then we pretty much have a starting lineup of lottery picks.

There was no hesitation, we just couldn't get a good return. Nobody was giving us a top 5-6 pick for Murphy. So when teams are offering 1sts in the 2030s, it's going to take 3 of them to get a deal done. Not all 1sts are equal.

Also, I think the new rules have muddied the waters. Nobody quite understands the implications and they are trigger shy. I just don't think there were good deals this summer. So we have to wait.

This is not a great draft. But it would be great to get a piece or two, then have multiple picks each year going forward. We need to stack them up, and fill out the roster. I think our cap space will garner us more assets than the players we have. Lots of ways to play this..

And yet 28 other franchises were able to make at least one move (Only GSW didn't, I believe)

Agreed. I do think the Hawks/ Clippers/ GSW were in talks but Clips probably said no to #5, #11 for GSW without assets isn't enticing, and Trey to the Hawks for #8/ future 1st would have been most fair but I can't imagine the backlash with another trade ATL trade.

Still don't think we've seen the best Trey. A good year from Trey, Zion, and Murray gives us a plethora of options.

I hope you are right. But I don't see it. We have given him every opportunity to be the man here. If he got paid the same as Zion, he'd be just as disappointing. I'd love to be wrong, and he ends up a superstar. I'll settle for a haul, if we can trick some team into it..

Maybe Joe thinks our assets are just so much more valuable than those teams.

Or maybe Joe thinks our assets are more valuable than what we get in a return at the moment. The people saying this shite are the exact same people who will be the first to talk shite about selling low or not getting a great return. Pure comedy. Why can't y'all understand everything is a lose/ lose in your brains?

We don't have money or roster spots without making trades. If those trades are shite return or cost assets then its best to not do it. We could make a move with Hawk but if it costs 2nds then why even do it? The player you get in return won't make that much of a difference.
