“We were engaged in a lot of conversations with a lot of different teams,” Dumars said.
“But at the end of the day, you’ve got to make a determination if this is the right deal or not. You don’t want to make a move for the sake of making a move. It has to be right for us…. When you’re presented with deals that you can do, you’ve got to make a determination if this is going to make you better and add what you need,” Dumars added.
“The lack of moves being made right now is not from a lack of effort or us deciding we didn’t want to do anything. We’ve engaged with a lot of teams this offseason. But there was just no big deal that I felt was going to make us better for us to pull the trigger on.”

I mean I’m not in the front office or in these conversations with GMs but if you’re not getting what you want then that’s fair

I like everything about this response other than the willingness to move on.

Yes I get not trading Trey, Herb, and 1sts for someone that isn't worth it to win now.

But the term "make us better" sounds like a short term response and not a long term answer.

Trading Zion, Herb, etccc for a young stud can definitely "make us better" but not in the short term.

All honesty here’s what happens. Joe brings in a coach they believe in. They feel that they have talent in the building
Dejounte- a year and offseason off Achilles to regain form (may or may not happen)
Herb- one of the few positive players on the team
Trey- first healthy offseason in 2 years. Is is he just a 22 ppg scorer or does he have another level
Zion- seems like he is taking his job seriously (heard this one before)
Missi- didn’t trade him for a reason. Top shot blocker in the league and only 22
Fears/Queen- 2 young players with a year under their belt for improvement.
Bey- career high year coming off ACL
Poole- usually takes a minute for him and his playstyle to become effective.
Wildcards- Karlo and Mcgowins will get a shot to be something.

If it doesn’t work out. You have your pick and potentially the Bucks pick if it’s Top 4. And tradeable pieces in Herb, Trey, Zion, Dejounte. With Fears and Queen.

The pro is, the exact opposite occured last year.
- Rushed into trades you didn't need to. ultimately lost out on 2 top 10 picks

Which growth is realizing your mistake and not compounding it. The frustration part is we're left wtih the same team and a wasted year to regroup & build up the value to trade.

We didn't "rush into" a Queen trade, its exactly what they wanted to do and what we heard about for weeks.

Neither trade had to do with any mistakes whatsoever.

The Pacers trade was a GAMBLE and not really a terrible one all things considered. (Any response to this will NOT include all things considered).

The Queen trade was the furthest thing from a mistake.

Can we stop saying this shite acting like they actually put us in a worse position and not a better one? Ending up with Queen/ Fears is not a mistake or a bad thing. frick.

Agreed.

Disagree.... We have had to hold on to Zion/ Murray to build up trade value. It would have been a terirble move to trade them at their worst value.

We did not rush into a single trade.

We ran out of time with BI, the exact opposite of rushing.

We had a time limit on the Pacers trade because the offer wasn't going to be available once they started the final game.

We blatantly planned for Queen.

Not a single rush.

Zion/ Murray have to recoup value. Maybe its an evaluation to keep them or an evaluation to max out their future trade value but trading them isn't an option right now.

Majority of people here don't want to trade Herb/ Trey which are the other 2 players of value.

Unless the perfect deal/ players comes along then this was always the situation.

The best thing to do right now is to add a player of need (Center/ SG) without breaking your asset bank and seeing how far we can get while simultaneously being open to shop every player not named Fears/ Queen.

We have the worst front office in professional sports and I don't think second is close.

Rush may not be the word, but not well thought out. Overvalued a polarizing player in the draft mainly due to connections to Weaver's family and gave up way too much to get him.

If the right deals are not there this year, I would not want to trade away valuable future assets.

Y'all keep saying this like there's appropriate comparable value to dispute it. There isn't.

And then this nugget which is complete bullshite.

Weaver had connections which put him around Queen and at games, which led him to appropriately evaluate his talent compared to other players. And it turns out he was right.

How about "Weaver has a good eye for talent and has been a great scout" instead of he's ONLY here because of a family connection.

Ridiculous.

Never said that either, my first post even addressed the concerns. That doesn't change the reality of the situation. Z/ Murray don't have value, we are indeed hesitant to trade Trey/ Herb unless its for the right package, Queen/ Fears are good things.

Not sure how any of those things could sound crazy unless you are actually retarded.
