I like this...let him anchor the second unit and feast in the post...you know what you have with him, but we don't need him to do anything but provide a solid 10-15 minutes a game.

Also, I think it is time to trade Diallo.

I'm not sure he'll even get that much run. Davis/Niko/Randle will dominate the minutes, and Hill can play some small ball 4 as well. He's going to need to drastically improve his defense to get 15 minutes a game.

It's not the most exciting signing ever and he may not play defense, but.....If he can come in and SCORE, that is really the type of player this team has been missing off the bench

Yeah, he fills a role in limited minutes. During the dog days in the middle of the season he can give you some minutes and score some points when you are struggling to do so.

Also, if he is playing ok he could be a nice throw in to a larger trade. Small deal, low on guarantees, Team Option for year 2.

Partially guaranteed, team option, it's a low risk/high reward move. If he can figure it out defensively under Erman, then it might have been a steal. Otherwise it won't cost us too much to get rid of him

Diallo and Okafor can compliment each other. Oak at 5 scoring Diallo at the 4 defending.

This is the only thing that matters. If he doesn't work out you've lost nothing. If he does work out you are set up to reap the benefits of it, whether that's as the long term backup big, or a useful rotation player you can trade with a contract that gives Early Bird Rights.

Exactly - as I said a week ago, it wouldn't be guaranteed. But Dell also getting the second year is him learning from the past.

Like players, GMs get better with experience, and Dell has learned from a lot of his mistakes. Dell, three years ago, would have overpaid Boogie and couldn't handle a sunk cost. Dell three years ago would have done a 1 yr guaranteed deal and might have given him a second year player option.

Dell has learned and gotten so much better. So, if you advocate for firing Dell, don't bring up Asik because that Dell is dead and won't be returning.

this signing is to keep Davis from getting beat up over the course of a season, with upside. dude is only 23.

The signing is to motivate Diallo, more than anything.

He is starting to get a little too high on himself. He thinks his skill level is much higher than it actually is. Jahlil has more skill in his slow feet than Cheick does in his whole body. He will push him

Do you know if Danny Ferry is involved on a pretty regular/daily basis? Because since he came on in an official capacity Solomon Hill is probably the only bad move Demps has made. And I'm not saying this is all Ferry's doing, but I have to think having an NBA guy as your sounding board is more helpful than an NFL guy. It probably makes it easier to convince Loomis/Mrs. Benson of something if you have 2 NBA guys making the case instead of just Demps.

Guess his Summer League MVP proclamation didn’t win him any favors with the Pels brass after it was over.
