It makes zero sense to trade Trey Murphy.

If we are keeping Zion and Missi then you need shooters around them. Trey is on a ridiculously team friendly contract and does exactly what we would use the draft picks if he were traded so to me we should just say he’s off the table unless someone gives Joe a godfather offer. Draft picks aren’t as valuable now with the rules changing about tanking so just hold onto this core and hope that a new coach and vision can unlock the talent that this team has. I’d try to lock up Sadiq Bey and find another center to spell Missi for 15-20 minutes a game.

Thinking too small. We aren't competing for anything in the next 2-3 years and Trey will want out. His value is near or at max. Good teams know when to sell high, especially with where we are in comparison to the rest of the league.

I love Trey. My favorite Pel but cashing out now it's a smart move that will help the franchise in more ways than him staying on the roster. Same goes for Herb.

Following the blockbuster Jaylen Brown trade, there are those within league circles wondering if New Orleans Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III will be the next big trade domino to fall.

Before this past trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, Indiana Pacers, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, and Los Angeles Lakers called to express interest in trading for Murphy, as previously reported by HoopsHype.

Teams that are in the mix for Murphy to varying degrees now are the Celtics, Pistons, Warriors, Clippers, and Hawks, league sources told HoopsHype.

And here's the main issue.

I think we know the asking price. A player and three firsts. We are dead unless we rebuild. I love Trey but we need a full rebuild.

Hold on to them until their trade value is worthless or they walk? Outside of Queen and Fears we know what the ceiling is of the talent on this team, and it's extremely low. There is little to unlock outside of those two players.

It makes zero sense to trade Trey if you want to try and compete to be the 3rd or 4th worst team in the West. It makes sense to trade him if you want to try and have a brighter future.

I agree. Hence that's why it's better for us to trade him if we can get a decent player and three firsts.

I want us to win games, I like Trey, and I hate tanking, but as of now, fully healthy, we are one of the worst teams in all of basketball. To get better, we are going to need some assets.

Makes no sense to trade a player on a team friendly contract to then attempt to trade for a similar player. Making a deal just to make a deal? The team should try to attract the best free agents available and stop trading away good players only to watch win a championship with another team. Otherwise just sell the team and move it to another city where they will spend the money to compete. Signing free agents shouldn’t mean being non competitive for years

Trading Trey for some sh*tty picks is stupid. You really want to take back Ped George? Trey helps your you guys develop. He plays really well with Queen and Fears.

Trey is still ascending. His value will be even higher next year.

All the smart teams are trying to get Trey... probably a good sign that you want to keep him.

My same feelings. No notes.

He’s not resigning here. It’s a matter of when not if you trade him so get the maximum value you can which is right now

Again, it makes sense if it sets your team up better for the future. The trajectory the team is on right now is to be perennial losers. Some fans want better.

Would you rather a Pelicans team with 28 wins and Trey or a team with 24 wins and 3 more first round picks?

Trey’s value will be just as high mid season if we suck arse again. Theres no rush to do a deal just for the hell of it. If you trade Trey then it all needs to be torn down and a full rebuild but Joe isn’t going to do that. I truly think this team is so much better than the record last year. Who knows, maybe Trey is averaging 25/6/4 and hitting 40% of his 3s at the deadline and we flip him for both picks plus a solid player. It all comes down to Zion.

Is Trey a potential top 10 nba player? Could he be? No and no.

Move on and keep swinging because until you have a top 10 guy you’re in no man’s land.

All good teams need fringe all star players to go with a star. Hopefully Fears can become that star if Zion isn’t up to it but just because Trey isnt a top 10 player doesn’t mean we should just have a fire sale. His contract has contending teams salivating and we hold all the cards which is why I say don’t be afraid to keep Trey for the time being.

Actually it does. Having two or three 2nd and third options is basically the worst thing you can have.

It gets you in purgatory.

NBA is like the nfl. Too 10 qb or player or it’s pointless

So you in the “ Run it Back” camp ? 26-56 lost 9 of last 10. Competing for a play in , probably finishing 12th in West

Not at all but it sure looks like the plan is to run it back. I just want to see guys take the next step in their development and I hope the new coach gets them to play defense all the time and not just when they feel like it.
