Now hear me out.

I just saw him basically begging/explaining as to why he should be on an NBA roster.

Carmelo Anthony is literally begging to be on any team AND take on whatever role is offered. He’s DEFINITELY, today, still one of the best 400 players in the NBA...right??

Imagine him, with the right attitude, willing to accept a bench role with not many minutes, but positive work on both ends of the floor, just grateful to still be in the show.

Imagine him trying to pour all of his knowledge into Brandon Ingram to make him the best SF in the league. All of his scoring techniques..just any little tip that could help.

I’m just sayin.

Plus you have Zion, Jrue, Lonzo..I mean these guys are young and young-ish..who wasn’t in awe of mf’ing sick-nasty Syracuse Melo!

I also don’t think it could hurt with shifting the focus and brightness, just a little bit, off my guy Zion to just give him a little time to acclimate to the pro game. (I doubt he needs it, however).

Again, I’m just sayin..

Can’t wait for the season to start

Dont really have the roster space, but wouldnt be a terrible idea of him working with Ingram on his offensive game.

Great idea he could totally teach Brandon all of his selfish ball hogging ways

Can’t play defense ( too slow) also a ball hog. Their is a reason no NBA team hasn’t picked him up

Part of why he hasn’t gotten picked up, IMHO, is a complete inability to show he can adapt to a reduced role now that his athleticism is declining.

Putting aside his time in New York and OKC, last season was probably the final straw for a lot of teams as he couldn’t grasp his spot in the Houston lineup and he made a big deal of how he was going to be a major pickup for the Lakers as part of a playoff push.

In short, his ego is writing checks his arse can no longer cash and few teams want anything to do with him as a result.

Some team may still sign him but it better not be us. If we sign an ancient veteran, Vince Carter is a much better choice.

It sounds more like you want to hire him as an assistant coach, which is a different proposition from offering him a contract to play. As a player, he can't play defense and shoots a ton of inefficient midrange jumpers -- absolutely not what this team needs. It's funny to say this, but maybe the Knicks could use him.

It’s like I tell my kids, you can say whatever you want, but you are what your actions say you are.

We now have 16 full seasons of Melo showing he feels he is a star and “the man.” It’s what made him a very good player at one time. Unfortunately, he isn’t that guy anymore, and hasn’t been for a long time. We now have 3 seasons showing that he is unable to handle a reduced role. Maybe he has changed, but I’m not willing to bet our chemistry and locker room on it.

He blew his chance when he still thought he was a starter on OKC. He should have accepted coming off the bench. Teams today might still be interested in his services.

That was the beginning of the end for him.

Pass on Melo.

Who are you cutting from the roster? Who are you dropping from the 10 man rotation for Melo?

I love Melo, he was my favorite player for a long time. That said I want him nowhere near this team. Can’t think of one positive he would bring.

This boggles my mind. I really don’t understand how anyone could have even tolerated Melo let alone loved him.

Probably my 2nd or 3rd least favorite player of all time.

Melo has great offensive fundamentals. Numerous NBA players have given him credit for this. Go look up reports from the last Team USA camp he was at. No I dont want to sign Melo, but it wouldnt be a terrible idea if he worked with Ingram.

Now a second person in this thread thinks that we're talking about hiring him as a coach. Jeez.
