Is it a coincidence that some of our best halves were w/o AD?

In both games that i am thinking of, we didn't/couldn't maintain enough in 2nd half though to get the job done. But some of our team's best play has been without ad, coincidence based on a couple hot shooting hands or was there better team chemistry, flow without ad?

Definitely coincidence. AD has a 123 ortg and 106 drtg with a 28.2 PER. He is our best player.

To further expand our top 5 rotations have AD in them (top 3 are small ball lineups with AD as center)

Most definitely.

The Pels are +4.6 when AD is on the court and -7.6 when he's off the court, so it's definitely a coincidence.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather have our best player on the floor.

Chad didn’t you just get a timeout for trolling the Saints board?

Sure, but maybe this can help illustrate some successful 5 guy lineups for when AD goes to bench.

I don't think it is coincidence, but the cause is not specifically No AD. Michael Pellisier tweeted this out a few days ago.

Look at Jrue's Per 36 scoring numbers. Only 11.7 with both bigs on, at least 17.9 with only one of AD/DC on, and a scorching hot 37.3 points per 36 when both bigs are off the floor. The biggest benefit of Solo coming back may be having another perimeter defender that lets you shift Jrue to some non AD/DC bench minutes.

i think 6th man minutes will be good for Holiday. but he's not going to continue to shoot 60% from the floor on that type of volume with both guys out.

i do wonder what the opposing lineups look like w/ neither Cousins nor Davis. is there a 5? are the Pels playing Asik there? or could they roll with Hill/Cunningham 4/5 in some of those minutes?

Despite what it appeared at the start of the year, it seems from an offensive standpoint, we operate better without one of the bigs on the floor. And as much as I hate to admit it, perhaps we need to go back to staggering them to try and figure out this 2 bigs thing. I think Demarcus needs to play less. He cannot handle 35 + minutes at our pace.

When Solo comes back, I want to see as many minutes as possible of Rondo-Jrue-Moore-Solo-AD.

he's gassed at end of games, leads to lazy shots and out of control drives and we all know he doesn't usually get the 50/50 calls at crunch time. As well at the end of the game, i'm just waiting on him to throw his next tantrum and get tossed, doesn't lead to a great team effort at end of games concentrating on tasks at hand.

I think it’s a fair and honest question.

THat stat with both of them off should be taken with a grain of salt. Of all the minutes Jrue has played this minute, 6% of them are without either Davis or Cousins on the court. Just b/c he had better looking stats in those 6% of minutes doesn't mean that 6% needs to become 20%.
I would imagine just about all of those 54 minutes have come when one of AD or Cousins didn't play in the game or were ejected from the game, so whatever lineup it was, wasn't normal.

Until AD accepts that he needs to play C full time for the benefit of this team, it will always be a .500 team.

I don't think he can play C full-time. We really need a 3 & D center who can play on the perimeter on offense, but guard opposing centers on defense.

Before the Boogie trade, I was really interested in pairing AD with Kelly Olynyk. Someone who hustles on defense and can shoot from outside, but whose salary doesn't force you to play them big minutes. Go smallball against small teams and play Olynyk against legit centers.

Has nothing to do with being a .500 team.

Until AD accepts his leadership role on this team and starts closing games out on his own, this team will always be a .500 team. We have no closer, and haven't had one since CP3.

And what this team needs, and has been needing, is a young center with energy. Somebody that can come in and give you 12-15 minutes flying around altering/blocking shots, getting offensive putbacks, and just hustling his arse off in general while giving AD a break from guarding the opposing teams big. We have Cousins for that now, but it would still be nice to have that guy. Too bad Diallo sucks.
I'll give it to Asik, he's been playing well in his limited minutes thus far, and i'll take what he's providing right now.

Jrue had 37 points last night, but only 4 in the 4th quarter. 27 vs. the Nuggets, 2 in the 4th. 34 against the Warriors, 2 in the 4th. To be fair to Jrue he did score 19 of his 34 in the 4th against the Sixers, but in 3 out of his 4 most recent high scoring games, he disappeared in the 4th.

I don't know if Jrue's handle is good enough to be a closer, but he can at least stop disappearing in the 4th.

I don't expect Jrue to be the closer.

I expect AD to be the closer, but that would mean he'd actually have to touch the ball in the last 2 minutes of a game.
