I can’t remember the source exactly, but it was reported that we offered something to the extent of BI for Murray and Capela and Atlanta just had no interest whatsoever in Ingram. So we went the other route: Dyson, salary and picks for Murray. The offseason was still young at that time and the front office still had hope that one of the other 30 teams would bite on Ingram, even though Atlanta ultimately had no interest.

Unfortunately the time to trade him was last season. It’s possible, we could’ve gotten the 2nd or 3rd pick out of either Portland or Charlotte, plus another asset or 2 for him. But we spent the majority of last offseason trying to move Zion instead of Ingram. Which is understandable given what Z had shown maturity wise to that point in 4 seasons.

That's fantastic... for another team to sign him to... Not the Pelicans.

Once he becomes a free agent next summer, why will teams need us for a sign and trade?
For an over the cap team... They will need the S&T to sign him.

Won't he be free to sign with anyone willing to agree to pay him what he wants?
No, he'd only be free to sign with teams that have the available salary cap space to sign him

It'll only truly be the Griff way if we also sign a lesser player in a S&T that same offseason and pay more for that player than we get in return for BI

A team that could be someone to monitor is the Clippers, IMO. I think they have some tradable salary. If they start slow I could see them being interested in someone like BI. Utah still makes the most sense. Detroit, Brooklyn, Charlotte, and Cleveland still out there

Can Ingram just STFU already and actually go a season without missing 1-2 months every year?

Such a bitch

let's pretend BI won't be a distraction on this team. Really wished dude was traded man

Front office failures are a way of life for the pels.

Very good chance that we get back less for Ingram in a sign and trade than what we gave up for Graham (#15 mark williams) in that sign and trade. Ironically the position we need the most right now.

Griff regime in a nutshell.

I think there’s a zero shot of him going to Utah. Ainge is to smart for that. Wishful thinking.

Don’t see any other options. He has a couple months to be worthy of those numbers. Don’t see him scoring other than mid range.

Did he already forget his bum arse was also benched on the team USA D team last year?
Didn't Tatum and Haliburton get benched on the O Team? Means nothing at all.

What are you talking about? That is not true at all. If we wanted to move Zion, we could have done so.

Under no circumstances would I even make any offers to him.

It's time to move on. Extending BI means Trey Murphy is no longer in your long term plans.

How many basketball years has BI played in the NBA? Would be asinine to double down on him over a younger prospect like Murphy

I’m resigned to the fact that the Pels won’t get anything close to the perceived value of a player of BI’s age, stats, etc. On paper it appears he’d be able to bring back a haul.

But outside of that vacuum you have his injury history, lack of fire and leadership, failure to accept his role in the offense. BI sees himself in the vacuum and wants max money. And usually there is some team who’s willing to give it. But in his case those teams are unable to acquire him for whatever reason - cap issues, inadequate/undesired assets… who knows.

The only situation I can see where the Pels get even close to what most fans consider acceptable is if the team is once again underachieving, but Ingram is having a good+ season. AND two+ contenders think he is the player to put them over the top, so you’re getting competing offers. Even then you’re not poaching a good player from that team because they’re going for it. So you get a middlin’ player at best and a first that’s late 20s also at best.

So again nothing close to his perceived value is to be had. Because his real value is what matters. And it ain’t much at the moment.

That’s not true. Zion had little to no value last offseason. It’s pretty well known that we were actively trying to move Zion, while actively telling teams that we weren’t interested in moving Ingram. No sense in denying it.

At his lowest value, Zion was worth more than Ingram

Zion is maturing and working hard. There’s a few great role playing wings. There’s 3 pgs, and enough bodies for the front court. If he doesn’t stay productive now, he’s gonna beg for 30 in free agencies.

I enjoy college ball more but have payed more attention to the pelicans lately. Ingram hasn’t stayed healthy long enough to believe he deserves max. He’s going to hate himself if he doesn’t take a pels offer and grow as a shooter.

It's only "pennies on the dollar" if a guy is worth a dollar. The rest of the league seems to have shown that Ingram is not worth very much.
