I mean BI and Trey both turned into above average defenders by season's end, BI especially.

But like I said, it's an embarrassment of riches when healthy cause you can just roll with what is the best matchup/exploitation against the opponent.

I'm guessing some nights that will end up being going fast and needing a lot of perimeter and wing defenders in a small ball setting. Just gonna depend IMO

Yeah I’m talking strictly about size and Zion/ Trey racking up unnecessary fouls just because of matchups. I like how their defense is developing.

Zion is aggressive on defense going for blocks and I can see him getting bs calls against bigger centers in the NBA. That’s my main concern with those type of lineups.

I really love Willie as a head coach but it’s hard to give him kudos for eventually making a change that was obvious to the casual observer for some time

It's just hard for us to know exactly what was going on in the locker room. We know that Temple is a vocal leader and a "coach on the court," and we really needed that leadership before we got CJ. As soon as we got CJ, Temple's minutes ended.

If Temple really is good at that, then he can be our Udonis Haslem and stay on the team and never play.

Yea, if we feel like Willie legit pushed all the right buttons last season, and it was painfully obvious to everyone Temple should have played less, I'd imagine that Willie didn't just miss that. There's probably a lot of shite factored in that we don't have access to or fully understand. And while it still seems like it doesn't make sense, I think given that he did push all the right buttons, he gets the benefit of the doubt for knowing whatever the heck it was that warranted Temple out there last season.

But don't think I won't whine and bitch if we're still getting Temple & Naji in our rotation to start this season.

The thing about Temple was the lack of options to go to. Murphy wasn’t ready, NAW was erratic, Marshall is just as unplayable as Temple was, and Satoranky was just arse.

Our depth was horrible at the beginning of last season. I don’t think we had more than 6 playable guys during that stretch.

Holy shite, I forgot all about Satorasnky. I remember being excited about getting him from the Bulls.

That dude was awful.

Look I have no issue with Temple being on the end of the bench but he played rotational minutes for a good part of the year. He had to be on the court for 20min to be the vocal leader until CJ got here? Hell I think Willie suiting up and playing would’ve been better than Temple.

Murphy wasn’t ready,

Unless someone could convince me that Murphy would’ve regressed playing early then this argument makes no sense to me. Murphy not being “ready” would’ve still be at least equal to what Temple gave us plus Murphy would probably improve game to game.

19mpg for 55 of the first 59 games. He was a finished with a negative +/- in 40 of those 55 games.

Trey played in 34 of the first 36 games, playing 13mpg.
That's about what you expect from a rookie. he struggled, like most rookies, and had a spell of about 20 games where he either didn't play or played very little, then he played 20mpg in the last 17 games, and then a pivotal role in the playoffs, and shot awesome in that last spell of games.

Temple playing had nothing to do with Trey not playing. Trey followed what a normal rookie that isn't a top 5 pick usually does.
Temple played b/c guys like BI and Hart kept missing games sporadically early on, Kira gets hurt 20 games into the season, Satoransky sucked, and guys like Jose didn't start playing regularly until mid way through the season, and then CJ came along in game 56. By that time is when Temple didn't see the floor again. He played b/c we didn't have many other options, other than Naji.

Maxey played 18mpg his first 23 games. The next 23 games he either didn't play or played under 2 minutes in 13 of them, and only average 9mpg in the 10 he played in. Then in the last 15 games of the season he played 20 mpg again, and did well.
It's a common theme for most rookies that are good to follow.

I honestly think Dyson is a good fit next to CJ. Herb comes out, Dyson comes in, he can give you some of Herb's defense, but allows CJ to play more offball. Same with Graham and

I think he will play next to cj a bunch.
