And yet they have still handled their rebuild better than the Pelicans without a gift AD and Jrue trade package and without Zion.

It’s really not all gloom and doom over there. At least Morant 100% wants to be there and he’s proven his upside is dropping an efficient 50 in the playoffs against a defense anchored by Gobert.

Yeah, we own Memphis, but they have had the better last 3 seasons.

Their best hope is to become what the Pacers have been: the team that consistently makes the playoffs with a poor seeding, and then loses in the first round each year.

I was surprised how bad JJJ looked dude maybe the most overrated player in the league.

Truthfully I think Memphis front office is more upset with there current record then ours is. I think they wanted to tank this year, they traded Val, moved up in the draft to pick a project player in Williams, and traded Grayson Allen. With there current roster being a late lottery or late teens pick would be a bad outcome.

What in the world makes you think that they can become an elite team?

the only player I saw other than Adams giving full effort Friday was Clarke and he mostly played in garbage time. Pels could use a guy like that

Not sure why your post got downvoted, because it’s the truth. Memphis is in a much better situation than the Pelicans right now. There is no front office drama over there and their young superstar phenom definitely wants to be there and is almost always on the court. Nobody from the national media is trashing their fan support and suggesting the team should be moved. At this point they are considering themselves lucky for getting the #2 pick and landing Ja. I still believe the Pelicans have a higher ceiling and things could change in short order if we finally start having by things go our way, but it’s pretty a stark difference right now.

Nothing. However, they appear to have a vision and some semblance of stability where we have a tornado of ineptitude and chaos

I see self-awareness is still not a strong suit of PT or TD in general.

I never said they would be elite. I said I’ll take their future over ours. Our future is a dumpster fire. They will be better than that. They will peak at maybe 4/5 seed. We will be rebuilding again in 2-3 years.

Even with all our bullshite, I don't think this is true. Zion still has potential Ja cannot reach and, more importantly, we have a 2nd piece. Memphis truly believed JJJ would be their second piece and it appears he is never going to take that step. We have Ingram who has already established he's a real great #2 option.

If we have Zion/Ingram, anything is possible around them.

Memphis with Ja/JJJ has a defined ceiling.

As absurd as claiming Herb is who he is at 23, like some people have been implying in recent days, you can't write off a player that just turned 22.

JJJ still has a very high ceiling. He's a year removed from season ending injury, if he's healthy the next couple seasons as he reaches his mid 20's and things don't evolve, I'll start biting on that, but 22 is still early in NBA development years.

It'd be awesome if everyone applied this same logic to our own draft picks...

I mean you can and should, at the same time you have to be applying it to the entire situation.

Kira stinking it up year 2 vs Cole Anthony or Tyrese Maxey doesn't mean Kira wont get better, but it's not a guarantee and the distance between him and pretty much everyone else at the position available at this pick still makes it a terrible choice unless Kira magically leapfrogs those other guys that also are still improving....and currently much better
