Up 10 with 3 minutes to play and CJ, who hadn’t even been close to making shots all night, decides to jack up a 3 after an offensive rebound with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. How can you expect younger players to have awareness of situations and the clock when there is zero situational awareness by a veteran.

Im not gonna shite on CJ- hes been great all season. The issue is we expect him to play point guard when he can’t. Hes a shooting guard. The constant push to make him the point guard is the real issue.

Definitely wasn't that but it was quick.

Has nothing to do with him shooting that shot and it’s not the first time he’s done that. I’m not shitting in him and he’s had a good season. You just have to have to make sound decisions to keep from losing games you are in good position to win.

Literally impossible for there to be 20 seconds on the shot clock on an offensive rebound

I mean if he makes that shot no one cares. CJ missed shots and took an ill advised shot but hes a shooter thats what they do. His defense and inability to avoid the press- were more of the main issues honestly. Hes also put in a position to be our lead guard- which lead to us some of these issues in avoiding the press. Its why putting in Jose may have saved this game.

CJ is an absolute monster for us until about 6 minutes left in the game, it's been the case since he's been here

Yeah, it was a little less but it was kicked right out to him after he missed the three and he shot it again. You just don’t hear many comments about these things until they lose.

It was basically a wide open rhythm 3 for a guy shooting 42% from 3. Frankly, I have no issue with the shot other than missing it.

I might be ok with it if he hadn’t been way off shooting all night, but even then those are valuable seconds. There were no rhythm shots for CJ tonight.

I love CJ but he’s got to be mentally tougher than he’s been late in these games. If he can’t be the veteran leader, he at least can’t be scared of a wide open shot. Shooters are supposed to shoot.

There were 11 seconds on the shot clock when he shot it and he had just missed from that exact spot.

CJ has been our best player this year. Good thread.

And in fairness, that goes for everyone on this team.

They all turn to mush in the final minutes of a close game.

Though it was funny how we did so well tonight with point Zion, then decided to go away from it in the clutch and we couldn't score, then went back to it for 2 straight possession, but and got 2 straight open looks and scores. It's almost like we should do it more...almost

Got ya. Can’t wait to see the positive comments that flood the board after dumb decisions cost us a game.

He was for about the 1st 40-45 games or so, but Zion finally came around and put that to rest recently.

No it hasn't. He's been the borderline all star player that he has been his whole career since he's been here, with normal variance.

CJ has very little variable affect on our success. He is who he is, which is a player who eats up 36 minutes of great, but not elite, ball.

CJ’s been here awhile now

He’s never been a cerebral player. He’s a cerebral human being, but he’s a gunner at heart in a basketball game. He’s a slightly more mature version of Jalen Green minus athleticism on the basketball court.

That being said, he has mostly been good this season. But he’s going to continue to have brain dead moments. That’s just who he is as a basketball player. It doesn’t matter as much when his shot is on. When it’s off, it’s ugly basketball.
