How poor has Herb been from three?

Of our wings he takes the easiest threes, yet is still our worst shooter.

Same thing carries over to catch and shoot threes. Most quality looks, but still the lowest percentage.

At this point I could care less. Dude held Lebron to like 1-12 shooting the other night when he was on him.

You’ll care when the games really matter and he’s missing open corner 3s over and over and over

If our offensive philosophy is to leave it in the hands of Herb, we’re doomed.

the point is no one’s guarding him when he’s on the floor. So he’s either gonna get the ball and Chuck it(which he has done all year). Or be a non threat and whoever should be guarding him will help clog the paint.

I like Herb but I’d like him more if we didn’t already have 2-3 guys similar to him that also have a little more to offer offensively.

I think herb has realized it and is going to be taking less 3s unless it's popping early.

He had a couple of interesting drives against the Lakers. He went at the basket full speed kamikaze style with LeBron draped all over him. He missed the layups both times, but he attacked with such force/speed that it got the defense's attention. If he can figure out a way to convert those drives either by finishing, passing or even his teammates being ready to rebound, that might be a better option than missing open 3s.

Based on what I saw in the Lakers game... When Trey, BI, and CJ are cooking, we don't need to rely on Herb to score. And when we don't need to rely on him to score, he's at his best.

I do feel like he's kind of recently started trying to get to the rim more. Not finishing at a high clip, but I like it more than settling for threes.

On the topic of finishing at the rim, Zion is basically the polar opposite of Herb's shooting:

I don’t care Herb still makes plays on D. This team is constructed to have 3 main scorers so you need that Dennis Rodman type that just wants to play D and get the buckets that he can.

The DHO he had the other night that got CJ open for the 3 is something else I'd like to see him do. The defense did not close on herb, so he moved towards CJ, initiated a DHO and was able to get into a screen for CJ to get an open 3. The only issue would be if the refs decided to call it a moving screen but honestly with some work that can be a staple play for him to run to CJ, BI or Trey.

With an entirely healthy starting 5 Herb wont have to take near as many shots. But lets just act like we need Herb to be the lead scorer

We need to get CJ to move to the right and Trey to get some more shots in that first plot.

I couldn’t find Zion on this for way longer than I’d like to admit. That’s just otherworldly

No problem! If people aren’t annoyed by them I’m gonna look through offensive stuff tomorrow

if this isn’t what we see from Herb going forward, it is an incredible failure by the coaching staff. that play (which did sound like he was coached into) should be drilled into him and the 3 point shooters on this team repeatedly in film sessions

There are just too many people who don't realize that when we are at full strength Herb won't need to take many shots; and those that he will take will be wide open. He's also a solid finisher on the break and is really excellent at knowing when to cut to the basket. Too many posters on here focus only on his perimeter shooting (which does seem to have regressed this year) and ignore the other positive things he does on offense. Same story with Graham as well, who has surprisingly been very solid facilitating and not a liability defensively (but he, until recently, has shot horribly; which is all most posters on here focus on). It is what it is.
