What’s going on with herb’s shooting this year?

He’s gone from 34%->26% from 3 and 84%->73% from FT

He’s shooting 19% on unguarded catch and shoot attempts, that’s dead last in the league.

He missed 26 fts all year last year and has already missed 11 this year.

His form doesn’t look different to me. If he can’t knock down a shot reliably it could hurt the spacing on offense.

Hope he picks it up.

Considering it was constantly being reported that he was in the gym all manner of hours, typically with Vinson, it’s both disappointing and maybe also evidence Vinson himself isn’t infallible and always gonna bat perfectly.

Definitely disappointed in his shot this season. Hopefully just a little slump.

His body language makes it looks like he’s lost confidence.

I think some of it has to do with he probably over-achieved last season.

That's what it is. You can see it when he passes the shots up that he'd normally take. He'll get it back. He has to redirect some of that defensive confidence onto offense.

Yeah he hesitates a lot more than he did last year

I'll also say I dont really like the form he settled on still.

Which is weird, normally with Vinson this is a clear shift to a really smooth textbook motion but herb still does this weird push outward thing that I think is why his shot always seems to be so erratic and sometimes come in with a low arc and hot.

You actually see the smooth change already with Dyson for instance.

I think it's form and in between the ears. He airmailed one so bad last game I was embarrassed.

Herb, based off what we've read about this offseason, has impossible expectations of his play, and I think he's beating himself up too much. I also think he's getting a lot of bad whistles this year, moreso than last year, and that's affecting him on offense too.

He's just a young player that needs to mature a little bit, and this team will get him right. He's still making plays, still playing great defense, and he'll crush it for us when it matters most.

Definitely getting that.

Something I actually thought would be better for him now that he has gained a reputation, but they are calling him worse than when he was a rookie.

Feels like NO Jrue all over again, but worse.

Seems like no matter how good we get refs simply don't want to bother learning our team to officiate them properly.

Regression to the mean.

He wasn’t as good as he shot last year. Not as bad as he’s shooting this year.

Add everything you guys said on top of his defense not being that great and fouling too much—-

He’s picked it up over that past couple of games but Trey should get a good look at the starting spot of this continues

He was sub 30% from 3 his last 25 game or so to close out last season. The regression had already begun.

Now this I disagree, his defense has been just as good, he’s just picking up some BS calls.

I agree with maybe starting trey, the difference between trey and herbs offense is greater than the difference between trey and herbs defense

The thing is: before his 0-4 result against Golden State, I thought that Herb had turned a corner. He was 6-9 in the three games prior to that.

Maybe the Warriors game was just a bad game, and he gets right back on track.

Herb’s percentages would look better if he didn’t step on the line, on 2 of his makes

Herb shooting FT’s at 84% was always an outlier considering his college numbers and his low amount of attempts.

It’s tough to be absolutely dead eye at the line when you get 1-2 attempts a game and throughout that game, you are airballing 3’s and have no rhythm

I’ve thought Herb’s overall play has picked up quite a bit the last several games, so I’m personally not worried about him. He’s been playing mostly winning basketball regardless of what his percentages look like.

13 games into the season is an incredibly small sample size. He started the season shooting like 20% before his injury.

He's a streaky shooter and I have to imagine he'll end up anywhere from 33-36% by the end of the year.

Herb still doesn’t have good symmetry with his form…I would like to see him square up and get his right elbow in and thumbs parallel. He is always left foot forward and his right elbow flies out which is just begging to introduce off axis force.

I could live with the left foot forward if he just brought the elbow in so it matched his left side, but the way it is now will always have repeatability issues.
