Does anyone see as much upside in him as I do? He's an elite defender with a high motor and an edge. If the offensive side of his game continues to improve, he could be a force.

Ingram just said:

"Every time I go into the gym, he's working with Fred. I can't even work with Fred now."

I mean the dude goes out and guards their best scorer most nights…and holds his own!

He’s already starting to show a nice willingness to drive and nice three ball. He keeps working on those…man.

I could tell Willie has loved Herb since summer league.

I hated watching herb against LSU. Dude was a baller in college and the heart of his team. I was pretty pumped when we got him because he is a smart player that always puts it all out there.

he has the stuff you can't coach and the willingness to be coached. He has a pretty high ceiling.

I am beyond confused how he lasted til the 2nd round. Thought he was a beast and should have easily been a 1st rounder. He's been impressive.

Old with limited upside.
He has 3&D written all over him, won't ever be more.

However that's the kind of players we need to find.

If you watched him at alabama you knew he would do well on any team.

His upside is a kind of Draymond Green, maybe with a better shot. If he comes close to that, we got a major, major steal.

He's a better athlete than I thought at first and he's a good mover without the ball, a pretty good passer and a fair ball handler.

I'm not sure I can project him as a All Star or anything, but as a glue guy and defensive stopper that every team needs, I think that is very possible.

Still, it's pretty early. Let's get a bigger sample size before going overboard...

The craziest stat so far this season is that Herb (who supposedly couldn't shoot) is 3rd on the team in eFG%, after Hart and JV.

I still think Trey will benefit as much as anyone from Zion playing and may need to start to maximize how good he can be.

Just think what could’ve been if we would had hit on 3 top 20 picks as well. Maybe older, projectible guys aren’t so bad after all

I like Trey, so let me preface that, him and Duarte were my two guys at our spot as the draft got to the 11th hour, and despite Duarte looking like the steal of the first round, I think Murphy has potential to have an equally good career.

That said, id rather not. It is so rare for a rookie to be a net positive player year one that you literally are shocked when someone like a Herb, Barnes, or Mobley come along and actually are. Even AD and Zion weren’t net positive players year one.

Let Trey play in staggered lineups off the bench, but forcing him into a starting role he’s not ready for just to get him a couple more open looks a game I don’t think actually helps his long term growth.

For real, just glad more people are coming around on the idea that became so contentious in the off-season about selecting older players coming out the draft.
