I’m not saying he needs big minutes, but the guy was averaging 15 for a stretch of 10-15 games and then just DNP’s. Why not give him a few spot 2-3 minutes here and there and just see how it goes? Am I crazy? I know you have to take someone’s minutes for him, but that’s what coaching is for.

Hawk playing 2-3 minutes at a time would be an absolute disaster, he’s the type of guy that needs more minutes to shoot himself into a rhythm

I agree with that. I know we’re so deep too that it’s hard to take minutes from someone, especially with Naji playing well. But it’s not like we couldn’t use his shooting. You play Daniels for D but no O. You play Hawk for O but no D. That’s what makes it tough.

I thought about him this morning thinking he should be on the court for the last shot.

If Aaron Wiggins and Isiah Joe can play for OKC in the playoffs, Hawkins can play for us.

There was a point last night where BI/CJ/Trey/JV weren't in the game and AD said where's th offense supposed to come from?

Hawkins had the highest Points Per Possession on the team coming off screens at 1.26 this year. BI was next at 1.2, and we did run some of that last night for him but Dort was literally in his jock strap on those plays.
How difficult is it to give him some run and let him take 2 or 3 threes? If he looks good, then leave him in, if he's not ready then he's not ready.
I think it would be beyond stupid to play a playoff series without Zion and Hawkins doesn't touch the court. We ain't winning the championship this year, so let everyone get the experience they need here. If he's not ready, at least he'll know what he'll need to do this offseason, as well as next season when he plays, but if he doens't get to experience playoff basketball at all then it'll be rather difficult to work on what's needed this offseeason.

Teams generally run 8-9 man rotations in the playoffs. Pels staff decided (and impact stats back them up) that Hawk is not ready for playoff basketball as a rookie. Pels oddly gave Dyson 3 minutes of run last night as our 9th, but teams typically do not do that and I think Dyson gets more of those Jose minutes in Game 2.

OKC ran a regular season rotation in Game 1 (11 players) which I think tells you more of what they thought about us than evidence for using a deeper playoff rotation. I wouldn't mind getting Hawk the development of playoff minutes, but the staff are trying to/think we can win the series, so they play Naji instead.

You can play defense still at a high level while being cold fresh off the bench after sitting for 2 hours.

You cannot do that on offense and be an immediate impact, you have to get into a rhythm, there’s a reason why AD is always saying on the broadcast as soon as someone checks in and chucks up a 3 that it’s a bad shot even if they were open.

I watched Kenny Smith hit 3 threes in a row in studio in a suit while that kid that thought he was the greatest shooter ever missed. Kenny didn't warm up.

I'll take Hawkins not playing the whole game and takign a wide open 3 for the game over anyone on the team except CJ and Trey.

well no joke, but the i'd still rather cold Hawkins taking an open shot than anyone else but CJ or Trey.
Unless Naji or Jose or Herb are like 5-7 from 3 in the game and playing well, Hawkins is simply a better shooter, regardless if he's warmed up or not.

staff needs a much shorter leash with Naji. It is apparent which version we have of him like 5 minutes into each game. He is not a guy you let work it out on the court.

Unfortunately Hawkins will end up being a star for another team
Pels love to bury their draft picks

That shite was so weird.

The dude missed in the exact same spot all 3 times.

That dude is a robot though, I watched a couple of videos on him. He doesn't miss...except for that one time on national television lol.

He is a complete weirdo though.

Hawkins has a bad habit of biting on pump fakes and jumping towards the shooter on defense. SGA would hunt him down and bait a bunch of FTs.

This plan they used this year was the exact same thing they did with Trey and it seems to have worked out pretty well.

It’s weird for people to say they bury their draft picks when we have 6 of our players playing big minutes that were either drafted or brought in as UDFA.

I dont know hes been amazing the past 2 games and hes helped us win several othet games. Its hard to just bench a guy who’s played that well on both ends plus gives you crazy energy. Naji will get paid this offseason either by us or someone else.

I personally have had my issues with Naji- but when the lights are brightest the guy shows up.

Except in his rookie year Trey became an important part of the rotation and played key minutes in the playoffs.

Hawkins literally has been buried on the bench. So I wouldn’t say its the same plan at all.

Was just about to say this.

I also don't think this is much of a Jose series. SGA and Jalen Williams are too big for him. This isn't DLO, Austin Reaves, Fox or Monk who i would feel fine letting Jose harass.

I would give Jose's minutes to Hawkins.

I want Hawkins to play couple minutes but not in lieu of Jose minutes.

Hes literally the only point guard on this team, is battle tested, great defender and at times completely changes the pace of the game for better. We need him to be on the court.

I agree with all of that but from what I saw in Jose's minutes last night he just looked too small vs the Thunder. Maybe I'm wrong and that'll change but the Thunder have a huge backcourt. Both SGA and Jalen Williams are both 6'6 and solidly built
