Don’t think it’s all BS. Zion looked hefty in those dunk videos.

I’m sure it was not easy to stay in shape while not being able to play. Best way to heal a hamstring is to rest. Only ways to stay in cardio shape are with the hand bike or in the pool with a float for your legs.

Zion gained a good deal of weight and came back out of shape. Was gonna take him a little while to get back into game shape. Bet the staff was very worried that him with his lack on conditioning and more strain on his body with the extra mass would make him highly susceptible to another injury I.e. the hamstring setback.

This dude needs to get his diet in check. Hiring a personal chef is one thing but he also needs a nutritionist working along side his chef tracking his caloric, macro, and micro nutrient needs. A personal chef ain’t a nutritionist.

Probably needs a personal therapist. Eating seems to be a coping mechanism when he's injured. He turns to food when he's depressed.

Yeah I think you’re right. He at least needs some sort of mentor who can really guide him.

Supposedly, T-Spoon has been that person, but it's clear that she's not enough.

So now message board experts can make that determination with no knowledge whatsoever. What a joke.

He to fat to play, didn’t make the weight limit given by the team, so technically wasn’t cleared. They are scared he will just get injured again if he’s over the playing weight limit they gave him. But he can’t lose weight if he doesn’t play.

It’s a never ending vicious cycle…..

I’m officially on the it’s both Griff (for enabling) and Zion (for entitlement) fault train. Does Zion want it or not is the question? The talent is there but it seems like the heart isn’t.

Interesting comments from Christian Clark on his latest podcast. LINK

- Zion is regularly late and eats poorly. He said he feels comfortable stating this on the record because his sources are teammates and they have no motivation to lie about stuff like that.
- In a throwaway statement he made about things Zion should do he says "keep his personal chef year round." Was that just a summer photo op thing?

Garrett Temple, if you want $5 million and a roster spot you can have it, but you have to be Zion's shadow the entire year.

One thing I don’t doubt is that Zion LOVES to play basketball. He lives to play the game. That much is obvious.

The problem is he doesn’t love the preparation it takes to play the game. If Zion had Ingram or Herb’s work ethic and put in the work they do in order to play the game, we would be wondering how long it would take before he’s mentioned alongside Jordan as the GOAT.

He’s gotten by in his life being able to play simply because of his raw athletic ability and has been able to basically roll out of bed and be one of the best on the court. I thought the broken foot would have woken him up and shown him he needs to put in way more effort than he does, but maybe it’ll be this hamstring, broken feet are freak injuries, muscle pulls come from not taking care of yourself.

All joking aside, I’m surprised it took one minute and 55 seconds into his interview for “human beings“ to make an appearance.

Was a huge fail on the FO's part by even putting Zion in front of a camera Tuesday. They made an even bigger mistake letting zion take to the floor before our playin game, a game which he wasnt playing in because he didnt feel like himself or according to grif now that he wasnt cleared, but to let him do the crap he was doing pregame was a huge blunder by the organization.

He said he believes that Zions hamstring is good but the team has clauses in his contract that say he can’t play if he’s over a certain weight because of risk of injury and that’s what’s happening. It would also explain the dunk contest he threw down before the game Wednesday as kind of a “frick you I CAN play at this weight” shot at the organization

If the above is correct:

Zion signs a contract with weight targets, then fails to hit those targets. Then when the team won't let him play, he throws a pre-game frick you hissy fit. Sorry pal, you signed a written legal contract and agreed to it's terms. Here's how it works: the Pelicans give you millions of dollars and you do the frick whatever they ask you to do. Welcome to the adult world ... contracts have consequences.

Totally unprofessional. He needs to grow up and accept the realities and responsibilities of being a highly paid professional basketball player.

Eating poorly not only leads to obesity, but also slows down recovery time when you are injured. Your body needs high quality nutrients to help you heal better and faster. Good nutrients also make your body stronger, so it may help prevent injuries as well.

This is either the truth or a master spin job by Griff to protect Z

It’s both. It’s exactly what the original speculation was, IMO.

Zion was too heavy. Both parties agreed to a max playing weight. Neither wanted to admit openly that Zion was well beyond that weight.

So, he’s “healthy” but not cleared. Zion tried to talk around it, and ended up making it worse.

In the end, it’s what everyone knows to be true. Zion was too fat.
