Alvin Gentry said he’s making progress and he’s practicing, playing 5-on-5 and we’re “trying to gauge when exactly” he will return. When he does return, Gentry said he will not start and he will have minutes restrictions.

Zion Williamson, who is not playing against the Knicks tonight, is shooting around at Madison Square Garden with a sleeve on his right knee. He’s taking off of both his right and left legs.

He probably won't start until after the ASB I'm thinking. Let him get his feet wet and get used to the speed and get his rhythm...he'll finish games surely

It's not just that Zion needs adjustment time. The team needs time to work on the plays that they ran for Zion in the preseason that they haven't run since. They need to practice the timing.

For the first few games, you can just give Zion the minutes that Kenrich would normally get.

I think he will be one of the first subs. They will also probably experiment with lineups featuring all 3 rookies, NAW, Hayes and Zion. Those 3 have really developed a friendship so they may want to see that synergy on the court.

If he's on a minutes restriction, then this seems logical IMO.

The best part about this news is that it means his debut is imminent!

I believe he shot jump shots with a 3 inch vertical at Duke too, but it’s weird seeing someone with a 40inch vertical barely get off the ground for a jump shot. And some of you might say that it is only shoot-around and thats not how he really jumps, but thats really how I always remember him shooting the ball.

thats true. I rarely ever see him shoot jump shots though. (Which is besides the point). Then again, David West was kind of like that from the mid range.

Those two and Lonzo are hopefully glued at Vinson’s hip this offseason.

Get those three shooting at a consistent and respectable rate and the league is screwed.

How can you say that, Dr Ellis?
Hes not really running hard yet. Not explosive.

When he is standing at the table and they announce him checking in, the roof of the blender might blow off. Man id love to be there for that.

watched a pre-draft video on Zion that illustrates some aspects of his form that will likely give him trouble.. Some of them were low ball flight, the fact that he barely leaves the ground when shooting, and the way he releases the ball as his legs are still moving him upward

Here’s Zion working out pregame with others, doing a drill where he takes someone off the dribble around a pick, takes it to the hole and dunks it.

It’s obvious he’s good to go health wise. If he’s not playing on the 16th I will truly be perplexed.
