I'm just getting pretty damn salty on some few comments on here and on a national level. Like Gayle is some inexperienced owner who doesn't know shite about ownership and/or NBA or how to properly do her job as an NBA owner. I think all the comments are shallow and short sighted.

She was absolutely mentored over the past decade how to run an NFL franchise in a first class manner. (How many owners have been mentored in such ways for that long of a period?) She has been involved with and learning about the Pelicans since before she convinced Tom to make the purchase.

Is it because she's a single woman that this is now "incapable" hands? Who the hell ever said this about Jeanie Buss? Is the Buss family trust assholes running a better show in L.A.? Granted, keep in mind they have the whole brand backing of their show.

We're approaching a year upon Tom's death and 1 of her franchises nearly made super bowl (just a continuation of the excellent system we have in place) and has aced every adversity dealt so far with class and quiet strength.

So let's do a simple list of different fairly known "owners" around the league. Honest opinion, which owner would you feel more comfortable with owning the Pelicans in New Orleans over the next 15 years?

Gayle vs Jerry Reinsdorf?

Gayle vs Dan Gilbert?

Gayle vs Michael Jordan?

Gayle vs Donald Sterling?

Gayle vs James Dolan?

And there's just a laundry list of other owners. Some very good, some very unknown. I just don't really here anyone else on national television going around yapping their lips that OH MAN TED LEONSIS (random example) really doesn't know enough of basketball and NBA.

Yes we know that you will defend anyone associated with the Saints blindly.

Like Gayle is some inexperienced owner

she is.

How do you know this?

The fact of the matter is, she has a guy that runs her football team and has been in the NFL his whole adult life running her basketball team.

No other franchise is run like that.

Who the hell ever said this about Jeanie Buss?

Jeanie Buss has been with the Lakers literally her entire life, from the time she was a child to now. She's also been in a relationship with the greatest NBA Coach of all time for a long time.

Yes, the Saints are run excellently.

The Pelicans are not.

You need to learn how to separate the two. The Bensons sure have not learned that yet.

A poor argument to make (IMO) is: Here is our owner and here are other terrible owners that she is better than!

I would prefer you tell us or show us why we should believe in her as a potential top 5 owner.

Unless we are setting the bar moving forward at: Not the worst

And before you lash out, I like Gayle a lot. I met her once in Tampa and she could not have been nicer.

I THINK she really really wants the pelicans to win and I THINK she will take the necessary steps to win.

I THINK she is and will be a great owner.

I love Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton and the Saints.

THIS IS A DIFFERENT FRANCHISE. And this Franchise at present, is shite. (Outside of the recent awesomeness, which I have to admit, was great work. I loved it)

Dumb thread is dumb. People shite on Dolan, Gilbert, Reinsdorf all the time for being incompetent and bad at being an NBA owner. Sterling was known as the worst owner in sports.

Whatever mentoring she got for NFL, she is an inexperienced NBA owner. There is a learning curve for how to be an NBA owner because it is a different sport. They have not been doing the work to be a first class NBA organization. Seems like that might be changing but it doesn't change what has been true:

This franchise has been poorly run for some time. All of the things that came out about them being neglected has been said for years. Davis trade just put the spotlight on it

MM, any chance you can get some scoop on how the FO feels about this "suggestion" on playing AD made by NBA?

Next few months its like we are under a microscope, I heard it hear in Dallas that KPorg could possibly play but the Mavs will just shut him down the rest of the year.

How is that possible?

She doesn’t know shite but Tom didn’t exactly set her up for success by leaving Mickey Loomis in charge.

Yes. I know how they feel and how they had for a week plus. When I tried to tell you guys how this would play out and the board decided to get emotional and talk about what's "fair" as opposed to understanding what will happen.

They aren't happy but this will be revisited in March and the threats are likely to subside

AD will likely play 600-700 more minutes and then he will go back home and rest in LA. Just gotta get through it. And more importantly, gotta get all you guys from whining and moving on to acceptance. Like any amount of Rich Paul blaming or anything else you guys say will reverse this. Do you guys all do this in real life too? Did your mommies tell you life was fair and you will get anything you want?

Grow up, move on. The Boston package is nice and Knicks still could get #1. Enjoy these last few AD games and stop whining!!

Because the Benson's have run a top 3 classy and professional NFL franchise over the past 12 years. There is history and proof of knowing the type of organization to expect. The product from Gayle, owner of the Pelicans, has been exactly what we thought it would be so far through her adversity.

How do you know what her role has been? How do you know how active she has been beyond letting her de facto owners in Lauscha/Loomis handle everything.

The fact is we don't know.

But people are coming out of the woodwork, including local people that would actually know, and are saying that ownership are basketball novices that don't know much.

It is what it is. The perception is what it is.

Once they start (and it appears it HAS started) making smart basketball decisions we can talk.

Has ZERO to do with the Pelicans. Zero.

Adversity is one way to look at it.

Another way to look at is that they've had a superstar for 7 years, which is an unbelievable stroke of luck that half the owners in the league would kill their own mother's for, and completely wasted it through incompetent, clueless management and ownership.

Chad, when they sit down to pick a new GM, do you really think she has any idea on how to pick the best candidate?

Perception is reality. The fact is that the Bensons have been around football a lot longer than basketball. They have spent more time and capital on football. They have treated the Pelicans as a second class citizen for a long time.

Those are facts.

Oh it does. They are both sport franchises, lets not confuse ownership and POBO.

I agree that the Pelicans haven’t been the best run organization. That being said, PELICANS ABSOLUTELY HANDLED THE AD TRADE DEMAND IN THE BEST INTEREST FOR PELICANS ORGANIZATION!

They would have been stupid to not wait for the Celtics to join the mix. They, BY FAR, have the best to offer to make the franchise a winner after AD. The Lakers deal WILL STILL BE AVAILABLE in the off-season.

The Lakers/Lebron thought they could just bully the little kid on the block but the Pels stood their ground and smacked the Lakers/Lebron across the face.

And?

One is run great. The other is (or was...we will see) run like shite.

What one is or does has no bearing on the other. They are separate and should be judged completely on their own.
