Is that the Duncan Pels offseason preview? Diving into it in a bit

I think from a pure talent perspective, they're right. But the roster is broken. Given the desire of management to be in the playoffs, Pels need to shift gears, bank on Davis and Holiday balling out and then fit and depth trumping overall talent.

Hield is a weird one though. If he, while on a rookie deal, can play ~70 games and be ~80% of 14-16 Gordon, just that level seems like a win for the Pels.

do you think they'll be forced to b/c of FA misses?

I think the FA market being so out of whack will give them a good excuse to take a more conservative route if they miss out on the max guys. But what does conservative mean? Demps has relied on a coach's knowledge of former players in the past to mitigate risk, which could mean throwing money at Barnes is a "conservative" move. But that move is pretty universally hated on Pels message boards other than the few hardcore Harrison fans. Demps' track record on big moves vs. fan outrage is terrible. He might have lost every big move the fans haven't liked, or at most you have an inconclusive or push like with Holiday.

I also think MM saying they are aware of the dilution that comes with too many of the same assets poses some interesting questions about who they target. Let's say they want to add Dudley and Bazemore or Hill. What does adding 2 SFs mean for Cunningham/Gee/Pondexter?

Apologies if this has been reported, but Magic NOT planning to extend a qualifying offer for Andrew Nicholson, sources say. Unrestricted FA

Yep, he is a guy to watch. Again, PF is not a priority unless they can get value. Supposedly Ferry is a Nicholson fan

Well none of them are good SF's.
Gee needs to hit the road.
Cunningham is an end of bench hustle guy that can play the 3 or small ball 4. he should be our 3rd SF.
QPon can play the 2 with Buddy.

All only have 1 year left on their contracts right? Outside of QPon, the other two aren't critical to the success of this team, and QPon barely fits that criteria as well, so who cares what it means for them. They aren't good enough.

Do you have any thoughts on E'Twaun Moore? I feel like he would be a good 2 who could split minutes with Hield and then transition into a backup role filling in at multiple positions

Good fit. I would also love Langston Galloway as a backup 1/2 once we dump Reke

You seem fairly confident we dump Reke

I am confident they will try. I have no idea if one of the other 29 teams is willing to talk themselves into him

I've seen some bulls blogs consider him the 2nd best defender besides butler last year.

He's never gotten really consistent minutes but is a really solid shooter and has high IQ. I like him as an overall player for sure.

Not sure how much he'd command.

I'm not confident anyone would take him until into the season when he's healthy.

If I was a betting man and I got good enough odds, I think Tyreke goes to the Cavs days after Delly signs somewhere else

They can fit him into their exception. Makes the most sense

Do we get anything in return or just those future seconds?

I mean, I am sure the Pels will ask, but if you can dump him, do it

What they "get" is minutes and culture. Let's imagine Reke comes back this year and it is a contract year for him. You ask him to take a backseat and sacrifice mins and shots-- how do you think that will go? And if you let him go full Reke, he takes mins and shots from guys who are long term pieces.

Just move on

Ive always liked Nicholson...i may thinking back a couple years but he's had some good games against us. He reminds me of a prototype backup 4 like Carl Landry. Watching some highlights it looks like he's has expanded his range out to the 3 pt. line. He must have fallen btw the cracks for the Magic bc of Aaron Gordon and all the other high picks that they have had. I can remember expecting him to have a career being a solid starting 4 just a couple years ago.

I think he'd be a great buy-low candidate.

So we need to root for Delly to sign quickly elsewhere. So, you think we can actually just dump his salary and not take anything back? That would be nice.

Not a great outlook from them. Having not developed any young talent to step up for departing vets really hurts.

They're just trying to rain on the parade of the first positive pels news in a long time.

One of them, yes.

They really shite all over us. Not that we don't deserve a good shitting on, but they also were kind of inaccurate with some things.
