pels are 2 games back of the 7 and 8 seeds of the east.

16 team playoff is being floated. pels can win 4 out of 5 and get still get 15th seed and play the lakers.

The top 16 ideas I've seen floated are jumping straight to the playoffs and teams like the Pels not even coming into the bubble.

This. They were talking about just doing some camps to get everybody back in shape and start the playoffs. Pels wouldn't sniff it at this point.

I'd prefer they play the last 2 weeks worth of games on the original schedules and then an NCAA type tourney. Seed all 30 teams and play them off in single elimination.

That's what I read. Why would they even change the seedings at this point? Why not keep it the way the season began? I don't like the 1-16 seedings after we already know how the season has played out (if it is indeed over) as it leads to speculation as to why it was done. For instance, 1-16 makes it much easier for the Lakers to win the championship and tougher for the Clippers and Bucks.

Anyone who thinks they are going to finish the regular season at this point is deluding themselves.

they’d do it just to give playoff teams a warm up. Which is kind fked for teams who aren’t gonna make the playoffs

If they are gonna do anything, they are gonna go straight to the playoffs. Which I mean is fine. We have had enough of a season to know who the contenders are.

I guess my frustration is that I don't think Memphis is more of a contender than the Pels, given that they have yet to play the meat of their schedule and we have already slogged thru ours...

Memphis had a brutal 5 game stretch coming up next, and I'm not sure they don't go 1-4 in those games

Marc Cuban would disagree

Are you aware of the contract issue with the regional sports networks?

If so, I'm guessing those are the very unlikely scenarios to play out then, as everything I've read is pretty consistent with the league making sure teams get to 70 games to satisfy the RSN contracts.

Memphis has in no way earned a playoff spot. H2H and SoS require the Pels get the last seed.

This isn't college football.

shite, even in CFB, those 2 things don't require a darn thing.

If they’re going to go straight to the playoffs they should use a CFP/BCS approach.

i will eat my hat if all teams dont get to 70.

play 3. Dallas.
most 5.
some 6.

i love the 16 team playoff because it gives the pels and sacramento a real shot to get in.

and the 16 team version creates real value in games of teams in the 4 to 11 range to move up or down.

if the conference format is kept then its unlikely the pels make up 3 games with just 5 to go. memphis gets back 5 guys who were in street clothes.

i think most people would be interested in the 16 team format.

will kd suit up for nets?

Imagine what teams like Golden State are going to trot out on a nightly basis if they make them finish the season. Kerr already said he was treating it like the season is over. You are going to have the bottom dwellers rolling out a squad of D-leaguers.

Especially with Lillard basically coming out and saying he wouldn't play if they try to finish the regular season. And I'm sure there are plenty other guys on non-contenders that feel the same way.

And it's pretty understandable to not want to have to go through all of the quarantine/testing procedures if you know you won't make the playoffs.

Not much different than what they trotted out half this season?

Money trumps all, the players won't really have much of a choice.

Also, the speculation is that the players overwhelmingly want to come back and play per reports, not just the few elites heading to the playoffs.
