This season's marquee newcomer — former All-Star guard Dejounte Murray — played in just 31 games in his Pelicans debut thanks to a serious wrist injury and then a more devastating Achilles tear. Williamson failed to surpass 30 games played for the fourth time in his six seasons out of Duke. Jones was limited to just 20 games thanks largely to season-ending shoulder surgery. Brandon Ingram sprained his ankle on Dec. 7 and has not played since ... although Griffin did manage to trade the former All-Star forward to Toronto after it became clear that the parties were not going to agree on a contract extension. Griffin's front office sought an extra ballhandler this past offseason to help bolster New Orleans' effectiveness in crunch-time possessions but then rarely got to see him on the floor. For all of Williamson’s breathtaking athleticism, furthermore, he has yet to round into a consistent fourth quarter difference-maker even when healthy.

The pain of Murray's limited availability, meanwhile, was only exacerbated by the rise of Dyson Daniels in Atlanta after the Pelicans included him in the Murray deal. As a Hawk, Daniels has emerged as a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. And his rise has been a source of tension in the organization this season, with Green facing questions internally about his perceived past preferences for playing pesky guard Jose Alvarado rather than Daniels.

From a Marc Stein article, shows how different the FO and Willie are. Makes me think Griff doesn’t have the control everyone thinks he does once you add this into the rumors that ownership loves Willie.

I really hope this is where everything is leading.

Combined with the rumors that the FO loves Malone, maybe Griffin can convince Gayle to let him bring in Malone.

I really don’t want Dumars, and really want Swin gone also (still unsure what she does besides being a minority female hire)

After Malone’s experience in Denver, he may demand power over any GM / POBO with regards to the roster if he gets hired.

Not necessarily a bad thing.

I've truly believe Willie, our fragile "stars," and a forced partnership with Oschner have been more of the problem than Griffin.

bullshite. They're all deserve the same amount of blame and they all need to go. They all botched their decisions along with their responsibilities over and over again.

Willie Green has been awful at the progress of player development by never letting them play. He’s trash

The slight consolation in all this is that the Luka trade made the Lakers pick we sent to Atlanta into a very late first.

Front office made a bad trade to begin with and now blame Willie for not developing DD and making them look stupid across the NBA universe.

If only someone saw this coming and predicted it…..

It wasn’t a bad trade.

They traded a player that seemed like he couldn’t beat out an UDFA for playing time, along with what should be 2 late 1sts for a perennial All-Star point guard. If Murray had stayed healthy as he usually had done through his career, nobody would call it a bad trade.

The Pels were fighting for a playoff spot last season and Dyson looked lost out there. While Willie could have utilized him more situationally as a defensive specialist, I don't think benching him was a mistake.

Dyson had his best month of the season last year in April.

Oh yes the problem this year was our lack of Dyson Daniels. That would have fixed everything.

Our problem was a lack of everything.

A lack of Dyson made us look that much worse when we had no Murray and no Herb due to injuries.

Griffin went into the season without a Center and any depth up front.

Noone is talking about it because we got lucky Missi was playable. But the man tried to sell the fanbase the no center roster like the Raptors before they traded for Poeltl.

The man also went into the season with BI when everyone already knew he's gone.

And that's just this season.

Any guard that's an absolute liability on offense isn't a big told ya so at all.

He’s not an absolute liability offensively, 49% from the field, 34% from 3. His liability is at the free throw line where he was 53%, but he absolutely made strides offensively this season.

And according to the Stein quote, it’s the fact that Willie didn’t play Dyson over Jose, so one can only assume Willie kept telling the FO Dyson wasn’t ready for an increased role, but this season showed differently

That makes him an absolute liability in late game situations. We saw it first hand
