Per Andrew Lopez of the Times-Picayune, Brees included a personal message when he signed the jersey, writing, “To Zion — Passing the torch to you! Who Dat!”

Saintswire

Really cool to see the support that Saints players have had for Zion and the Pelicans organization lately.

I hope Zion utilizes some of the great ambassadors on the Saints team. Drew, Cam, Kamara and Thomas. Pick their brain. Do what AD didn't do.

To be honest, I want to say Cam has embraced nola more than brees has.

Brees has embraced the city for sure, but that doesn't stop him from moving to SD most/every offseason. Cam lives here full time I'm pretty sure and reps the pelicans all the time

Zion would be the best tight end and defensive end in the league

Yeah, whenever it is brought up that Drew may want to retire to spend more time with his family really means he wants to raise them in San Diego rather than New Orleans. IMO, we will see Brees after he retires due to his business ventures, but Britney and the kids will be full time Cali residents.

I mean who wouldn’t rather raise their kids in SD?

Kind of a shitty frame job on that jersey - that’s the best they could do?

I'm born and raised NOLA but if I was rich enough to retire and raise my family in SD v NOLA I would be in SD so quick your head would spin.

Bree’s is all class, but I think its Funny that he gave him his own jersey.

“I’m great you’ll probably want this.”

But Jersey exchanges are a thing so it’s not really egotistical.

Having spent enough of my time traveling to Cali the last few years for work, Louisiana doesn't compare in terms of the beauty of San Diego. However, as a Conservative Christian, there is no way in hell I would raise my children there.

Let’s be honest. Can you really blame him?

I had this thought as well until I saw the message. The message makes it a really cool gift imo. Someone like Brees would not use that lightly, and his name carries weight.

Yeah, go watch the video. "Geesh." We thought AD was Aww Shucks humble because he was quiet, Zion actually is Aww Shucks humble. If Griffin does a solid job of team building Zion will be our Tim Duncan.

In an age of entitled athletes, Brees gets it. The trajectory of Brees decision in choosing New Orleans over Miami is what made him.

"I'd just say embrace the city," Brees said. "One of the best pieces of advice that was given to me when I first got to New Orleans was if you love New Orleans, it will love you back. There's no truer statement.

Cam and Morstead have both embraced the city in ways Brees hasn’t. Not trying to slight Brees because I think it’s difficult in his position, but those two have bought into being full time residents here as have others.

Kind of makes me wonder what some of the Saints players thought of AD. I can't remember this level of enthusiasm from them at any point when AD was here, especially from Drew.
