We've spent sooooooooooooo much time focusing on the Knicks or the Pels getting the 1st or 2nd pick, and talking about Boston's trade assets..

That we gloss over the fact that some combination of the other 5 teams in the top 6 could be 1/2...and then what do we do?

Do any of those teams have:

1) assets, outside of the top 2 pick, that could paired with it to get AD and please us (and outbid Boston)?

and

2) The desire/balls to trade for AD on a 1 year deal while giving up a ton of assets?

It seems like several of those teams would not have confidence they could keep AD and wouldn't consider the deal, instead keeping Zion or Ja.

Chicago's assets have gone too far under the radar IMO.

bulls seems like a dead end.
cavs same.

suns i have no idea.
hawks absolutely if they get #2; no way they give up zion.

wizards need the rookie contract.

What are their assets? Markkanen and LaVine?

Really, I'm just trying to work through our worst case scenarios here.

I'm just not sure that the Bulls would give up all of that to get AD with no assurances of a future contract. I don't see them as being confident that he stays like the Knicks or Celtics might be. No other stars are going to Chicago with that management and ownership...

Of course Dolan is still the owner in NYK so who knows.

worst case scenarios

#1 goes to any team other than the knicks or pels.
#2 goes to any team other than the knicks, pels, or hawks.
pels pick drops below #7.
MEM pick drops to #9 & conveys.

i'm sure there are other bad things as well.

in that case, the zion/ja dream is dead, and we will be trading for young players and draft prospects

I think ATL might make a move for AD if they get #2. Schlenk is a sharp GM and has been acquiring assets. I also think for opposite reasons you could see a move from PHX or CHI. They are both poorly managed. PHX has already signaled it wants to bring in vets and CHI management could convince themselves that once home AD would get them in the playoffs and he wouldn't want to leave.

CHI can offer something like Otto, #2 or #3 and WCJ.

ATL has a lot of assets can be Huerter, Bembry, Bazemore and #2 or #3. They also have the Dal pick.

PHX would likely keep Ja or Zion, so it would need to be #3, but it could be something like #3, Warren, Bridges, and future picks.

Would still spite the Lakers and draft Morant and trade AD to Boston for hopefully Tatum and Brown. With the way Tatum played this season, I am hoping his stock is truly down and we can squeeze both him and Brown from Boston.

Sentencing AD to playing in LA would probably be the ultimate case of “be careful what you wish for”.

Yep, I would tell LA give me Zion and Ingram (assumingour new trainer thinks he can work with him), AD and Hill is yours.. You can keep everything else

What is ADs issue with Chicago? Why does he not want to play there?

GarPax and Reisendorf are my guesses.

Shitty front office and shitty owner.
