Chad Ford is saying there's an expectation that Duarte won't get past the Wizards at 15.

Also a lot of smoke linking the Warriors to Wagner at 7.

What's he saying about Pels?

The Warriors don't want to make picks at 7 and 14, and what they are trying to do this offseason with 7/14/Wiseman is upgrade Wiggins.

I'm surprised the Warriors didn't try that yet : Wizards - Warriors trade

The Warriors have their big 3 and the Wizards a full rebuild.

Seen a few rumors that Ziaire is the target at #8 for Orlando.

Not a fan of Ziaire personally, but it could help push so talent further down to 17

Definitely not bad if Beal wants out and demands a trade. I personally think you're looking at adding on 2022 1st and 2024 1st though.

Wiggins isn't a negative asset, but Wiseman was absolutely atrocious last year.

i rate them differently.
wiggins was a good two way player.

wiseman only played 4 college games. then injury.
i would give him another year.

two years of beal while curry still has it.

all chips in now.

Williams going that high to Orlando would be a hell of a pick. I'm thinking Kispert, Duarte, and Murphy are all gone when we're on the clock. I just really have the feeling we don't pick at 17. I don't know if Griff moves back and gets more picks, but it wouldn't surprise me if he just moves out.

I don't think we pick at 17 either.

Wasserman's updated mock has the Pelicans choosing Kispert, but also strongly considering Butler. LINK

The Pelicans would be thrilled if Kispert slipped after his strong workout in New Orleans and the team now expected to start competing for the playoffs.

The Thunder are believed to be interested in Butler. The question is whether New Orleans takes him first or if OKC wants to grab him at No. 16.

You know the hit rate for 53 is pretty much 0 right? They can’t make four second round picks anyway. Get some cash, which could be used in another trade or what not, to complain about it is really silly.

I'm hoping we use 2 seconds -- one of those being on a high upside G League stash like Vrenz or Primo. Or even Sharife if he falls that far.

The vast majority of second rounders are useless. They'll probably package their two lowest remaining picks for another pick in the 30's, or trade them for future 2nds.

I would be surprised if we draft and keep more than 2 players from this draft.

Sounds like we have 9 lottery locks -- Cunningham, Green, Mobley, Suggs, Barnes, Bouknight, Wagner, Kuminga, Giddey. From there it's anyone's guess how the next tier of prospects from the late lottery through the early 2nd round goes.

Duarte has been linked to a few teams at the end of the lottery and supposedly isn't expected to fall past pick 15.

Day'ron Sharpe has been consistently linked to Brooklyn at 27, but may go before then.

In a strictly draft prospect world where trading for vets isn't available or considered, I would stay put at 17 to see if Moody or Kai slide to trade up range and grab them. If not, then I would trade pick 17 to acquire more assets and make our picks at 35 and 43 where I think there's a few good prospects still available for great value and some upside stash options.

you’re more likely to get a quality player as a UDFA than a second.

Is this going to be the official draft thread? Woj has already broken out the thesaurus:

quote:

ESPN Sources: The Detroit Pistons have landed on a decision to select Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham with the No. 1 pick in tonight’s NBA Draft (ESPN and ABC at 8 PM ET).

With Cade Cunningham a solid No. 1 to Detroit now, Houston and Cleveland continue to trend toward Jalen Green and Evan Mobley with the second and third picks, respectively, sources tell ESPN.

Looks like the first 3 are nailed down.

Up to y'all. I'll probably be watching the draft on and off so I might not be able keep the OP updated to the minute, but should be able to pop in through the night. If someone wants to create a separate thread though, that's cool.

Green to Houston and Mobley to Cleveland are excellent fits, particular Mobley to Cleveland.

So Jarrett Allen available? We could maybe need a center…
