Does Missi's rapid development change Griff's strategy?

I had no idea Missi would be this good this soon or that he'd even be playable.

Not only is he playable, he's exactly what we've been missing the entire Zion era.

He officially got 3 blocks but he also erased 2-3 and 1 opportunities that I'm pretty sure were going in.

So if we potentially have our C of the future, how does that impact Griff's stance on BI?

I always thought C was the obvious target in a trade. Could be still, but probably not.

If we do trade BI, I think we need to look at someone who is a potential CJ replacement. I know we have Hawkins but you can never have enough firepower.

Zion
Murphy
Murray
Jones

Are going nowhere.

Unless...I never would want to trade Herb ever. But what if Griff could get a superstar for BI and Herb?

Who? No idea. What if the Suns flounder and Booker becomes available. Highly unlikely, but that's the only kind of guy I would even consider including Herb in a package for. Maybe Mitchell if the Cavs start slow (again probably not).

He was impressive for a rookie. However, Chicago was able to attack him pretty successfully in the PNR. He has a ways to go on the defensive end, but it was only one game.

yeah that is being overlooked.

They were going around picks and getting free lanes to the basket quite a few times with Missi not knowing if he should drop or step out and stop the ball carrier, and instead really did nothing and took our own guy out of the play more than anything.
He'll learn, but the Bulls got a lot of easy baskets b/c of how Missi was defending screens.

I'm excited about Missi but people need to chill. It's been one game. And it's the Bulls. Let's get a bigger sample size before we start talking about Griff adjusting his strategy

With JV that would have been at least 3 illegal screens. I think what Missi has shown does change the strategy. Missi looks like he can be the eventual starter in the Center Committee.

It’s one game, he’s a rookie. There will be ups and downs. Hopefully he continues to develop so we will have our center for the next decade.

At some point very soon vs a better frontcourt, he's going to look like shite. It happens to rookies.

Everyone just needs to relax and take the ups and downs, and hope for more ups like last night

It also happened playing with Murray, our true PG, who will now be sidelined for a month or so. The best case scenario is probably what Derrick Lively was to the Mavs last year becoming more useful as the season progressed. The thinness of the position means we really don't have a choice in finding out how good or bad he can be.

which are live ball turnovers that very easily can swing close games and throw the offense out of rhythm. At bare minimum if he’s not a turnover machine on offense he can play. That was also hayes’ problem.

Prepare for him to get abused on defense. Because he will and it will be ugly.

It'll be interesting to see if we can run the PnR effectively without Murray. Missi playing time and development is dependent on the team being able to run those plays.

Lets just say things regresses:
18 minutes
9 PPG
5 RPG
1 APG
combined 2 STOCKS

Is that enough to not make a huge push for a center. Maybe at most finding a daniel gafford-esque guy (like what Dallas did to Lively) to provide another body to deploy

I know few are ready to go back to a steady diet of point BI, but on one of BI's dunks or layups he got to the basket because Missi was rim running on the opposite side of the lane and froze the defender just enough of BI to turn the corner and score. It looked like BI was thinking of lobbing it too, until he saw the opening he had to the basket.

And the steal against Lonzo was because Zo couldn't go over him and had to look for a bailout pass

Yet we ended another game with BI as our only guy that can create shots. We finally brought in someone to save BI from having to play out of his natural role and he goes down in game 1.
