I guess we will be a tax team next year. I wonder if they had to pick up the team option to prevent a potential veto by Miroticic.

If the team option is intact it lets you pick between Mirotic and Moore to stay out of the tax. If they also get a guard back in the trade like Holiday, it makes it easier to move Moore.

And he’ll fit in incredibly well with Boogie. This is some much needed firepower for this season and hopefully the next

I’m still on guard in case this isn’t actually happening

This is an unbelievable move.

Niko Mirotic is s fricking good basketball player, especially offensively. Putting him next to AD (or Gobert, Utah was a trade possibility) will allow him to flourish.

And you shed Asik’s contract

what is the catch here

To me the catch is you just paid a 1st to dump Asik for a player rental if you're not willing to pay the tax next year. Using a 1st to dump Asik for a half season rental of a good player isn't bad value at all, but you could do better if you weren't desperate.

Mirotic has been my number one target this season, I'm happy. I do hope we have lottery protection on the pick.

I thought it wouldn’t have been wise with Boogie in tow and him and AD playing nearly 80 minutes.

But with no Boogie, great move.

Don’t think many teams were in on Mirotic

Pels or Jazz and Utah still don’t know which way they’re going

Dell swoops in, doubt there are protections on pick? Expect Mirotic here next two years and should flourish next to AD

Yea don’t think we move on Mirotic w healthy boogie

This is total BS. Trading away our only pick for a pussy arse "big man" shooter who is hated by all his teammates and is a FA this summer. Didn't work for 4 seasons working Anderson and Davis together, but now its suddenly going to work. This is just horseshite..

I think there is probably more pieces to this deal and Niko for Asik + 1st is just the bones of it.

I wonder what his next contract numbers would look like. We have to assume he’ll opt out. And if we spend a first on him I’d also have to assume Dell will bring him back or at least try to. (Not that I would feel obligated to do so)

I really hope Dell gets Grant or Holiday included in this.

I mean being able to wait until next year when his contract is more neutral value. For trading this year you can't do better than a good player with a team option.

Mirotic is a solid player. his shooting this year is a bit of a mirage- he hasn't been a 40% guy. but i hope it continues

can't pass like Boogie, but he will be a floor spacer for Holiday, Davis et al.

Next year is a team option, not player option.

Someone just posted this in the trade deadline thread

quote:

Bulls fan here you guys will love Mirotic on nights and hate him on others. He can flat out shoot but won't play defense. Shedding Asik's contract is great for the Pels.
