Solomon Hill's never known how to shoot a basketball.

We're getting a player back with a sub-10 per last year

Dude was always bad.
We all wanted him to be good cause the pels pay him 12mil a year to be good .
His bad haircut doesn't help when he misses shots either

He's not great, but he is a middle of the pack SF in the league when you look at his +/-.

I was never a Hill fan, so i'm biased. But he averaged 7 ppg last year on 38% from the field and 35% from 3, with respectable defense.

If i'm being generous, I'd say he was a below average player last year. He's worse this year because he's not 100% healthy. He still looks gimpy when he tries to run full speed.

I'd take what Miller's given us this year, at a fraction of the price, over Hill all day.

Now wait, we couldn't wait for this guy to get back, now we all admit he wasn't that good?

I think this is one of those "Jrue sucks" threads we got early on in the season.

Hill hasn't played ball in over a year. It takes time. Same with Boogie whenever he gets back but sure we're still gonna have tons of threads about how we shouldn't have given him the max because he sucked it up his first 15-20 games back.

These guys aren't robots where you change or fix the broken part and it performs at normal levels right away.

This.

Really sucks that we couldn't get him back before asw because he probably won't be in full game shape until we're out of the playoffs.

Also anyone who expected anything beyond solid defense was fooling themselves. Hill was never going to be a two way player for us this year, and may never be.

The idea of getting Solo back was always gonna trump the reality of it.

Expectations are low for the rest of this year

And a lot of his 3's have been attempted from the wing, not the corner. Tougher shots.

There's no excuse for an NBA three missing a bunch of wide open threes no matter where you are on the 3pt line. He's had 6 months to exclusively shoot threes while rehabbing

If it were that simple then SF wouldn't be a position with demand far exceeding supply like it is. They'd just lock all of the athletic 6'6-6'8 guys in the gym over the summer so they'd become playable 3 and D wings.

Also, shooting requires the legs, particularly the hamstrings to provide lift, especially from deep. Frankly, if you try to get him to practice from 3 without a proper base, he's probably going to develop some bad habits up top. Dumb post is dumb.

Solo has always taken the majority of his 3's from the left wing. Part of the defensive scheme is to have him at that spot so that he can sprint back and shut down transition offense on misses. An issue that was seen last year with his 3's that the team tried to work on was that he would turn to get back on defense prematurely without following through on his shot.

This sucks when you consider you could have had a Corey Brewer/Gerald Green type at 1/3 the cost.
