as we wind down this very uneventful end to the season, just curious about everyone's honest opinions about this offseason. See threads about Jrue and players we should go after, but before we get to any of that, will Dell & Gentry be here to make any of those decisions?

I personally would like to see us clean house and start with a new regime with AD and Boogie, but I'm curious if anyone actually thinks this is going to happen?

If they were given the go ahead for the end of season tank, I think that means they are both 100% safe.

If they weren't, both would be playing to win regardless of playoffs or not.

99% of people want that. But it seems unlikely.

Dell pulled of a steal of a trade, so he bought himself another year, imo.

Gentry probably bought himself a year as well. Well...He bought himself about 25 games.

And Monty shouldn't have been fired. He beat the fcking Spurs to get to the Playoffs and had a tiebreaker over OKC with our roster.

Both will be back imo unless AD and Boogie voice their displeasure to Loomis

That sucks, both are terrible. But the NBA is full of bad "coaches" if you want to call them coaches.

I remember talking to an ex NFL player whose son was a major prospect and went pro whose complaint about the NBA is that there was no penalty in the league for failure. Coaches suck one place, fired, and a few years later are head coaches somewhere else sucking in the new place.....the players control the league and the play....unlike the NFL or even MLB .

True for Boogie especially.

He had a different coach every year during his time with the Kings. He wants some sort of stable organization. So, he'd probably be pissed (as well as AD) if they didn't at least ask his opinion on Gentry being the coach next season

They should have tanked weeks ago for the betterment of the franchise. They waiting until the last 5 games is a spit in the face to the fans & players and frankly is outright embarrassing. They are both fricking clueless

The #Pelicans are holding end of season press conferences with GM Dell Demps and coach Alvin Gentry tomorrow afternoon at the team facility.

That decision should've been made three weeks ago when they actually had a chance at keeping their pick. I don't see how in the hell the front office thought they would have a shot at making the playoffs with the way this team is constructed.

Did Monty have an end of the year recap conference before he was let go?

Spot on.

I just wish if this was an option, they should have started the process 11 games before they did.

There are coaches that win every year regardless of player turnover or personnel. I get that not everyone is Phil Jackson or Greg Popovich, but to say that coaching doesn't matter is not accurate.

Monty Williams had essentially the same players Gentry had in his first year. Monty won 45 with those guys his last year here and made the playoffs. Gentry hasn't sniffed that kind of success.

Gentry also asked for Asik and Ajinca to be re-signed, then threw them under the bus when he started losing and turned two guys who were assets in 2015 into total liabilities by 2017.

And I don't know if it was Gentry or Dell who wanted Hill, but whoever is responsible for that signing should loser their job over it.

Hill has apparently been a long term obsession with Demps. He wanted to draft him in 2013, but other plans got in the way.

I give up if Gentry returns. He was a shitty coach before you hired, has been shitty since you hired him, but hey I'm sure next season will be the year he figures it all out

I don't know if they were given the go ahead to tank. Gentry seemed pretty ticked off after the loss to the Lakers. Didn't sound like a guy who was tanking.

Resting AD and Boogie after we were eliminated was the smart move. That doesn't mean Gentry was told to tank.

That's my hope atleast. I'm torn on Dell after the trade, but I 100% want Gentry gone asap.

this will be typical end of season conference

like this one with Monty

"it was a long season, we have seen a progress in second part, our defense was much better, we traded for DMC, we developed Diallo, found Crawford, blah blah blah'

every team have such a conference

maybe we will read something 'between words' of Dell.
but I doubt it.

REal evaluation will take place within next weeks
