Bridges gets traded for 4 unprotected picks + a protected pick and a protected swap

Murray gets traded for 2 picks with at least one protected, a talented young guy probably worth 1 pick, and a backup big

Bridges is definitely a better all around player, but murray is solid as frick. This makes our defense really really good on the wing now.

I have to anticipate we are making another move and not settling on a FA center though. We shall see.

Is he though? Enough to justify that much more of a return too? I think it’s arguable at least.

Murray will be 28, entering a 4/114mil, now 126mil contract from a 15% trade bonus spread over 4 years (12mil bonus).

He, as the #2 guy in ATL, put up:
36 MPG, 152 games
46.2/35.5/81.0 shooting
21.5 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 6.3 APG, 2.4 TOV, 1.5 SPG, 0.3 BPG
OBPM +1.7
DBPM -0.3
BPM +1.4
VORP 4.7

He will be the #3 guy if Ingram stays here.

Bridges on the other hand will be 28, with 2 years 48.2mil left.
As the #1 guy in Brooklyn, put up:
35 MPG, 102 games (didn't miss a game)
44.7/37.3/84.3 shooting
21.2 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 3.4 APG, 2.0 TOV, 1.0 SPG, 0.4 BPG
OBPM +1.5
DBPM -1.0
BPM +0.5
VORP 2.4

Idk yal, I like Bridges but feels like its too much.

I don't see how anyone can look at those Murray numbers and not be happy with the trade.

The RealGM poll on the trade has us winning by about a 80-20 clip.

They like what Dyson brings to the table for Atlanta defensively but Murray did not bring back a star package for them considering what they sent to the Spurs for him.

Murray & Landale traded for:
Gallinari
2023 1st (Charlotte conditional)
2025, 2027 1st (Atlanta)
2026 1st swap

We gave them back Nance, Dyson, 2025 (Lakers), and 2027 1st (Pelicans or Bucks).

IIRC, their picks are all unprotected, they really got hosed.

He’s done nothing but get buckets on bad teams

He can’t be the same guy here. He will have to find his own role

For clarification also, trade kickers are paid by the trading team. So Atlanta is paying him that 12 million

So is that money counting towards our cap or Atlanta then?

He has done more than get buckets on bad teams. He had a great defensive rep before getting stuck next to trae young in Atlanta.

He is another player that can handle the ball and create. Say you replace bi with Murray at a much smaller number.

Murray and bi operate from the same spots mostly. His numbers will be fine in new orleans where he will have the ball in his hands about 10/15% more.

36.2% 3PT on 7.1 3PA/per
39.2% C+S 3’s on 3.7 3PA/per
32.0% Pull-Up 3’s on 3.3 3PA/per
36.8% C+S 2’s on 0.2 2PA/per
51.6% Pull-Up 2’s on 4.8 2PA/per
45.9% FG on 18.7 FGA/per
52.8% eFG

Murray and Ingram probably have similar trade value. Not having to include BI is huge because we can still trade BI and come out net neutral in terms of assets

Right. Murray looked like a bad defender last season. If that's because he was miserable with being stuck to Trae and having to do all the work, and if he can return to San Antonio-level defense, then he's better than Bridges. On the other hand, if Murray's defensive skills have actually declined for some reason, then Bridges is a better player.

Murray has the traits to be a decent defender. He will always get steals. He has long arse arms and shoulders be able to jump passes more with Herb next to him. Pels just need to get a legit center. Not an easy task.

I think it’s close, but Bridges plays a role that can fit into any team. So his value may be a bit increased, but to a team like the Pels who need a lead guard Murray would be more valuable.

Just to give an idea of how “good” they are, they are ranked back to back in the Ringers player rankings.
