From the start I was certain he'd be too hefty to play effectively in the NBA. I had my moments of doubt during his 20 game run where he did pretty well, but ever since then he's proving me right.

Let’s be honest. 99% of the games he played, which was over 20 btw, he was an absolute offensive force. The guy made an all star team in year 2 and would have been an all nba selection if he didn’t break his thumb late in the season.

So saying he is a bust is inaccurate and is not only proving you wrong, but also dumb.

Happy Sunday though mate.

Yea but according to you, we’ve seen enough of him to know that the team will never be good enough to make the playoffs if he’s our best player.

Absolutely remarkable.

All things considered, up to this point, he's been a bust. Sure alot of it presumedly wasnt Zion's fault completely, such as injuries, but that doesnt change the end result, which has been nothing. It is his fault he has never been in shape since he's been here, and that certainly has contributed to some of the injuries, to an arguable degree, maybe miniscule, but still there is some contribution.

Hypothetically, if this foot thing never gets better and he never plays again, would you consider him a "bust" at that point. I know this is very unlikely, and there's no reason to believe he wont play again at this point, but I'm curious what your definition of a bust is. Let's establish what constitutes a bust?

To me, it is a extremely unequitable spending of resources on someone who never amounts to anything tangible for the franchise, regardless of the means to that end.

There's still plenty of time to change that; so it seems a bit early to declare "victory" imo. So I'll still agree that OP is dumb. If this is "victory" then seems kind of dumb to be a fan of this team, posting on a fan message board.

Two different things bro. You can acknowledge he’s a great player that’s not a bust and also acknowledge his health is going to make it almost impossible to build a playoff team around him. Dude is on a rookie deal now. What happens when he is making $30mil plus and injured half the year? Griff can’t even build a decent roster when Zion’s only making $10 mil.

I’ll also add. Our winning percentage in games Zion has played is under 50%. Some of that is Bled and Adams. But part of it is Zion and Brandon being poor defensively.

I mean he’s played 82 games and has been elite in all of them.

Players with All-Star selections drafted since 2016:
Ben Simmons
Brandon Ingram
Jaylen Brown
Domantas Sabonis
Pascal Siakam
Jayson Tatum
Donovan Mitchell
Bam Adebayo
Luka Doncic
Trae Young
Zion Williamson

While the injuries suck there is no way you can label him a bust at this point.

I know that you’re really better than your new rally cry in that you’re cognizant that the best teams deserve the best fans. This is just some silly phase you’re going through.

This isn't as impressive since it's largely a popularity contest and not directly tied to performance / impact.

I'm not saying he's a bust in general (yet), just in New Orleans. If he ended up at a team with better management and discipline he might have been managed better, but this team never had the resources to keep this guy on track. One thing that always true is that he couldn't keep his size and play style exactly into the pros, and needed to be coached into the NBA.

It was a western all-star appearance and he definitely earned it.

He has had injuries and missed time.

If Zion is a bust then what is everyone else. No one else in his draft class has made an all-star game. About 15 players over the last 5 drafts have made an all-star appearance.

Additionally, just going off number one picks he isn’t even close to a bust. You have guys like Bennett and Fultz who were #1 picks. Lonzo Ball has been a decent player, but he was a #2 overall pick.

How do you know

no one knows but i trade him after a good last month of season.
let someone else bet on his ceiling.
i take back picks and one good player for money to work.

hes now almost like cp3. healthy is impossible to deal with.
dont count on him for 82 games and then to lead team in a couple 6 or 7 games series through the finals.
it aint happening.
not cp3.
not zion.

im ok with a 3 team deal to nyc. as long as i get into the chet banchero top picks.
