Don’t know if mentioned previously, but I think not picking up Cam will haunt us for years to come. If he can live up to what he flashed at LSU...he will be a perennial all-star type player! Just didn’t understand passing him up.

Wasn't he a 2nd round pick? Didn't everybody pass on him at least once then?

My bad, he went 27th

Slim chance. He's on a team with KD, Kyrie and James Harden, how on earth could he outshine those guys?

Cam Thomas is probably going to do very well in Brooklyn where all they care about is offense. If they're healthy he should have at least one of KD/Harden/Kyrie on the floor with him drawing attention and making scoring easy for him. Just accept it and move on. But that doesn't mean he would do the same for the Pels.

Did you watch the Pels last year? Do you honestly think bench scorer is the hole they needed to fill to make them better?

The Pels drafted a player that's been compared to Ariza, who became a lock down wing defender. But Murphy shot 50/40/90 in college, so he's already a much better shooter than Ariza ever became.

What does that mean? If you replace Naji/Hart minutes with Murphy who appears to be an elite shooter, you not only get more space for Zion and Ingram, you get more points out of both, because of the space, and more assists from both, because Murphy will convert their passes to points at a higher rate.

Thomas won’t be an all star but he will have a decent career. Pels needed defense and Thomas doesn’t play it.

Perennial all-star? He's a good high volume scorer who is also a bad defender that shot below average from 3. There are many players like him in the NBA, and he'll be lucky to ever be a starter on a good team.

Trevor Ariza has a career average of 10.5 ppg.
Mikal Bridges, another comparison that's been made, has a career average of 10.2 ppg.

Nobody is expecting Murphy to come in and be anything more than a good 3 and D wing.

40 min ball game vs 48. Also doubt Murphy had anyone like Zion or Ingram or Val to create that many open looks for him in college.

UVA also plays at a snail's pace and averaged only 68 PPG as a team. Their leading scorer averaged 16. But I'm sure you already knew that.

An undersigned two guard who isn’t particularly good at facilitating, defending, shooting and he isn’t an incredible athlete. Not sure why anyone thinks he’s going to be some sure thing.

Every once in a while he exposes himself as nothing but a troll, this was one of those instances, not worthy of a response. He’s usually a bit more subtle.

He shot 10 fewer shots per game than Thomas did. I’m sure he would’ve scored a whole lot more if he had been a chucker.

this is how i know you don’t watch any college basketball. No one on UVA is averaging 20+ points a game. Even DeAndre hunter only averaged around 15 his last year and he only averaged more because he got to the line more often. Like other have said UVA is a defense first slow paced offensive team. There’s no iso shite happening there.

As for Cam Thomas he’s a nice player but he doesn’t strike me as a team oriented guy and clearly doesn’t care about defense. We need mature players who will do what it takes for the team. And we needed more big wings on this team.

He averaged 11ppg as a Junior.

Ariza played one year at UCLA and averged more ppg than Murphy did as a Junior (he also had double the rebounds).

Josh Hart also shot 40% his last year at Villanova. But he scores 18ppg.

Murphy won't crack the two deep this coming season..

And was still an average ft shooter, which tells us his consistency will be an outlier. Which it has been. Yet the things he was said to do (defense. Fast break) translated well, only thing that hadn't is his shot.

Murphy has a limited upside, but his shooting is more consistent than hart's which I'd be more inclined to bet he'll be a better shooter. Defensively he will be fine.

Cam Thomas might become a 20PPG scorer, but he's never gonna anchor a defense or be useful on that side. Something we desperately need help with
