A possibility could be throwing a decent max contract to Williams or someone for the next 4 years, allow them to play that max out while Davis and the #10 pick remain on their rookie contracts, and then let Williams or whomever's contract expire and you'll focus on offering Davis and the #10 pick max contracts.
Just something to think about.

1 more dumb question can we use that this offseason or do we have to wait til after next year to throw money at a big FA?
Use what? Amnesty? We are pretty much out of amnesty options if this deal goes through.
As for cutting Lewis, it has to happen this year. He will be a UFA next summer.

If we buy him out we have 30 million in cap space. If we dont buy him out I'd think our cap would be around the same as before but Lewis' value would shoot up around the trade deadline because he is expiring. So we have a lot of options here. And when you give a guy like Dell a lot of options, he makes stuff happen.

I don't get this trade at all from Washington's side, especially since they traded for Nene last year and are paying Oakafor $14 mil to come off the bench (unless they play him at the 4, which would be painful to watch).

Not sure how I feel about it for the Wizards. Great trade for the Hornets though. I don't like the cap space being taken up now. Really wanted the Wizards to go after Batum this summer. Oh well. I like the idea of Wall/Beal/Ariza.
Okafor is a bit redudant with Seraphin and Nene, but dang that is some nice depth.

That's why they're the Wizards and they just got Demps'd.

i think smart/good guys are being valued for WAS b/c their roster has been full of so many dumbfrick assholes lately
Posted on 6/20/12 at 1:57 pm to SlowFlowPro
That's true. Maybe they just wanted to make moves for veteran leadership so that the knuckleheads on the roster can be kept in line.

They pick up two potential starters for a guy they were going to move mid-season anyways and can draft Beal at #3 now. I can understand why they did it.
