alright i'm not that learned in the salary cap/amnesty/financial aspects of the nba. can someone give me a dumbed down 3rd grade explanation of what exactly this does for us
more cap space freed up because their huge contracts are gone = signing better players to better, non-Jeff Bower contracts

I wouldn't be opposed to re-signing him for $5-8 million a year for 2-3 years. I don't know if that's a deal he would take, but it wouldn't be a bad offer on the Hornets end, in my opinion. Certainly you don't offer $10+ million for 3+ years.

Either that or re-sign Gordon to long-term deal and save some money to re-sign Davis to a long-term deal in a few years. Look to what OKC did for Durant and Westbrook as a model for what Hornets could do long-term.

Probably not but we can throw money figures at him to try and convince him otherwise.

so if we buy him out tomorrow, how much total do we have left for 2012-13?

1 more dumb question can we use that this offseason or do we have to wait til after next year to throw money at a big FA?

With AD and Gordon here, I think we can show the NBA we can contend and that we have a good front office now. We just might become a somewhat desirable location for FA's, giving us a little help with not overpaying.

We can use the money this offseason once the trade and buyout are official.
