It’s crazy that it’s 2020-21 and we’re once again having to resort to illegal streams.

This was a problem when cord cutting first started but then for a few years you could watch games pretty much no matter what service you used.

Now we’re regressing.

And I think it will get worse before it gets better. Napster forced the music industry to not only go digital but go cheaper, focusing on $.99 singles and eventually monthly subscriptions.

Even if Sinclair offers a direct to consumer platform, which is their plan, if all of the streamers are telling them no, I doubt the pricing will be consumer friendly.

The NBA needs to hop on the stream bandwagon. I'm not gonna pay for it, but still.

Wasn’t the NBA recently talking about more ways to get more viewers? Such as subscribing to certain teams, or being able to pay to watch a single game or to tune in at the end of a close exciting game?

I think your only legal option to watch is through your local cable company. Or, if you are out of South Louisiana, you can get League Pass and watch.

Watching illegal streams is legal. Broadcasting them is not.

They have a streaming solution in League Pass, the problem is they understandably don't want to compete with the national and local broadcast deals that make up so much of the league revenues, so it's useless to most fans.

I do think they're going to need to do something though. The ratings were down big time in the bubble and everything from politics to being out of season was blamed. I think Cord Cutting was a big part of the ratings decline. That's going to get even worse since about half the league broadcasts on Fox Sports Regional Networks.

In 2021 there should be the option to watch every single game of the team you like. Here in Canada it’s worse because Raptors get precedence over Americans teams even in other provinces.

Regular season starts December 22nd. The Pels first game is December 23d at Tampa (Toronto).

If you're asking about Preseason, the Pels only have 2 Preseason games. Most teams have 3-4 but I believe the Pels chose to only have 2. My guess why only 2 games would be that they value practice time in Stan's first year over preseason games.

Yeah...ask the NFL how less preseason games went for them. Record number of catastrophic injuries in the first few weeks.

I should have clarified. They need to get into streaming without ties to television networks. I haven't paid for cable since 2010 and I'm not paying $50-$60 to watch NBA basketball if there's even a slight chance of a blackout or not being able to watch multiple games at a time. I really hate cable companies. The fact that blackouts exist are completely mind boggling to me and endlessly infuriating. I have a hard time dealing with inefficient shite like that.

Blackouts aren't the cable companies' fault. It's the league rules to try to get people to watch the game in person. A stupid as frick rule but that's why it's there (and also why the nfl finally did away with it).

But I also don't have cable because frick that ridiculous price. These networks already get a cut off advertising, and then hold the cable companies hostage for stupid amounts.

I'll eventually find a way to watch what I want without overpaying.
